Isn´t it just a bit ironic?

Some of the news that has been big the last days, beside the usual things like genocide, political corruption, war and some boats that has been neglected to sail - those things are on the other hand a different story.

We all know that more or less every country wants to control and read or listen to what we, the people, has to say or write in our spare time. We have in some case "accepted" it, it seems like we don´t mind being raped mentally and having our freedom to think robbed before our own eyes and mouth.

So when a tabloid does it, a big uproar and a parlament crisis is unfolding; News of the world and the UK parlament - what does happen? They simply pull the cord, or to be honest, they (in this case the owner Rupert Murdoch) says that the tabloid will cease to excist.
It is ofcourse the hacking of cellphones of celebritys that have made Murdoch pull the plug.

So what about the irony? And what about the drawing?
The irony is that one man can stop a newspaper to listen/read about-on-from what some people have been writing/texting and talked about.
Becouse they are "important" persons (celebs and the "royal family"). Poor people.

But what about the rest of us then?
Are we gagged, like the woman in the drawing?
Do we got a chance to reopen the inhuman law that makes it justified to read what we send in mails to our friends and with a smile on our faces seal and throw it away?
Ofcourse not, I´m not that naive. But do I hope for it? Yes I do.

A journalist should be working for the people, so when are they gonna ask the right questions - to the right people - and do we got to listen?

I bet this event could become a great comic. Oh me and my naughty mind ^_^;

At Lennox psychiatric hospital Baby doll (Emily Browning) arrives. She and her younger sister has been - as seen in the trailer - have been attacked by her stepdad.

We are made believed that it is an incest of some kind, but the only thing we see are Baby dolls shirt being pulled and a buttom fly from her dress and lands on the floor - in Zack Snyder slowmotion style.

While at the psychiatric the guards seems to be slimey and creepy without any morals whatsoever. Kind of giving the impression that these guards probably has or can do some sexual- assualt any given minute.

So far so good, right? And we are only a few minutes into this movie. …and then it shifts, completly.
Sucker punch has more or less devided movie lovers in two different sides, those who Love it and those who (almoust) hate it.
Visually it is in the same style has Snyders earlier movies; 300 and Watchmen. That is it is somehow a feast for the eyes and when it has Emily and
Jamie Chung in the cast, I understand why.

Sucker punch is a videogame/comicbook adaption that uses the latest skills from the wizards of SF effects. So if you feel to sit back, enjoy the ride and escape into a world created by guys who somehow revolutionize the world of cinema, sucker punch is a movie for you. But it´s also a movie about escapismhment (not sure if that´s a world to begin with).

The trauma the girls at the psychiatric has to deal with makes them fantasize about the world and the enemys within.

But our heroin girls can´t only fantasize (the fantasize part is however done by the men while they watch Baby doll dance) they also can kick some serious ass. Sometimes they fly across the rooms themself and get seriously beaten - PG13 style.

It may at first hand sight seems like an movie like nothing you have seen before, but it borrows from movies such as Lord of the rings trilogy (the storming of the castle and the monsters that live there are spot on to the Uruk-hai). Also it uses the camera to pan closely arround different items - wich some think it´s so refreshing and new - it has been used for many many years however in Hong Kong and Japanese movies, later on it became known for the wider public when The matrix hit the big screen. Even the slowmotion takes where the females carachters hair - often the bangs/their hairstyle

is used to slowly fly across the girls face - also done before for several decades in asian movies.

Strangely enough, Sucker punch is somewhat original and a enjoyable experience to watch. But if it only could have continued the way it started.

I don´t really know how to describe this movie. But let´s try atleast.
Mix in the cinematography from Susperia - the use of colors and the suspensfull scenes. Also add some of the italian trademark from the late 70s and early 80s - extreme zooming in on the eyes, for example, and other bodyparts. Mix in some sensuality, eroticism from the movie Lolita and try to do it with todays standards, without any necesserly dialoge. Feel like this would suite you? Then, you will love, adore and feel confused when you see Amer.

However, it is somehow unfair to mention these movies becouse Amer is a movie that anyone can appriciate and love. You may not understand - don´t get me wrong on this - but the beauty of this artistic poetic surrealistic semi ghost story is simply mindblowing in all it´s freedom.

Ana enfant - The young Ana (Cassandra Forêt) lives with her mother (Bianca Maria D'Amato) in an big old house, in the big old house an older woman lives next door to Anas room. What happens in that episode has much meaning to what happens in the second episode, Ana adolescente - where Ana are a teen, now played by Charlotte Eugène Guibeaud and here is the erotic parts happens that in some way reminds me of Lolita.

Marie Bos as Ana adule; Ana the elder. Her erotic visions and somehow nightmarish fantasy towards men is filmed in such a way that you almoust feel ashamed for watching it. Not only the cab scene where her panic turns her on, but also the bathtub scene later on.
I will not try to review Amer any further, becouse this is a masterpiece you have to see and understand for yourself.

Remember this when you watch Amer.
This is a tribute to the artform itself.
Amer is a story told in picture, colors, sounds, excellent camerawork.
It might be a subtile horror movie, but Amer is somehow a lovestory, For the love of cinema and all the dreams it creates.

A definitive Must Have. For everyone.

Rin (Yumi Sugimoto) is a bullied 16year old girl, actually she is only 15, but she 10minutes into the movie get celebrated by her parents on her 16th birthday.
The girls at school think she is somekind of freak and throw shoes at her and knocks her out cold. There is something thou about her hand that has mysterious powers.

The movie however starts with 3 girls attacking some men with machineguns attached to their noses (seemingly the machineguns looks like a mans penis).
Heads being sliched and mutates into big ballons and brains and other messy stuff fly all over the place.

So, at Rins birthday party her dad (wonderfully played by Kanji Tsuda) tells her about her special powers. Rin ofcourse is chocked, but suddenly some men with machine guns attached to their noses walks in.

Rin is being chased down the street and a local news reporter and her camera crew follows her and some memorable quotes and funny scenes happens.

Right from the start we are more or less told the moral of the story, presented in a funny splattering way that only japanese film directors can do; some of us are different but in all our differences we are all capable of doing great things.
It is also a spoof or tribute to the classic tale on X:Men.
The director Noboru Iguchi also pays tribute to his classic Hajirai mashin gâru.

Even a tribute to the most classic scene in Cannibal Holocaust is here.

Rin is being taken to a place where she will learn to control her special powers and she also gets an cute assistent named Yoshie
(also a tribute to Hajirai mashin gâru) who this time is played by the cute Suzuka Morita.

Rin is being trained and even slightly tortured with electric.

Noboru Iguchi - the director/screenwriter, is soon a living legend, if he allready isn´t one.
This movie has so many great quotes and scenes that if I would write them all down it would be to much, so I sudgest you buy this movie as soon as possible.
If you don´t find this movie hillarious then you have no sense of humor ^_^

5 young student girls have done one prank to many and the teachers and the headmaster agrees on giving them a punishment during a weekend. They will clean the school and the area around during three days and while being there they start to tell the new girl Zeta (Reanna) about some killings that have happened in the school a few years ago.

Histeria starts however with the girl Murni (Liyana Jasmay) walking through the hallway with her wrist full of cuts and her dress soaked in blood, she later on ends up in a hospital where the doctor and the police tries to solve what has happened with her and all the other girls.

The girls summon and evil spirit

It mixes drama, more like a coming to age type of movie, with gory killscenes and what grabs me the most; the lesbian tense

that somehow filters every scene (atleast halfway into the movie) and the feeling that something bad can happen at any second.
The second part of the movie it twists into a monster slasher and in one of the final scenes where two of the girls sits in a car, won´t give away who it is, is a really good moment that somehow sums up the entire movie in a way.

This was the first Malaysian horrormovie I´ve seen and I´m looking forward to see more from this country.

Peter the Great?

Maybe we or I should still call him Peter the greatest.

Peter Forsberg, he played hockey like no other, I´m not a hockey memoribelia so sue me or something. The way he played, puck/stick handling, skating, used his body to check - and... to N-E-V-E-R back down from anyone.
I checked NHL and the pressconference where Peter said he was retiering fully now. And then two sports newchastor talked about how great Peter was, usually things like that makes me feel uncomfortable, you see it can easily be a big propaganda about retaretment player. So I wrote my own words

The best movie of 2010. Nothing else is actually needed to be said.

3 young students, 2 guys and one girl, are making a documentary about beerkillers and they find a mysterious man that they suspect to be behind all of the killing.
Our group of students follow him to an camping place and the mysterious man leaves every night and comes back at dawn. The students follows him one night and seemingly looses tracks of him, they sneak into the woods with their camera and sound equipment, the mysterious man comes running towards them and shouting TROLL!!!!

The screenwriter/director André Øvredal mixes in some of the ideas of Blairwitch project and real documentary filmmakers work; a joke towards Michael Moore and his work.
But mostly this is an highly original and entertaining fake documentary and the trolls are impressivly done. If you thought that the big monsters in Lord of the ring was something special, you Do need to see this one.

The terminators

In the suburbs of Los Angeles humanlike robots (cyborgs) goes on a killingspree, they have turned against humans. A cybertech warfare program has gone way out of hand and we have seen movies like this before the terminator quadrology for example.
The cyborgs (actually just one actor who they have duplicated into various scenes) are big, buffed, muscular and with no facial expression at all, just like Arnie back in the days, they shoot rather before asking questions. They even has red glowing eyes and one of them heals himself as T-1000 did (after a gunshot) in T-2.

The backstory isn´t exactly needed in a movie like this, action, various acting but with a potential as the original terminator movies had, simply becouse they all are about the same thing.
The special effects (CGI explosions for example)

and the bloodsplatter are thypical b movie and if my ears aren´t going bananas - aren´t the sound bad like if it echoed or something?

A group of survivors flee L.A. and after meeting a man who saves their lifes our group of survivors plans to strike back at the cyborgs before all the humans have died.
It may sound like a really explosive big blockbuster hit, but as many of the b movies with smaller budget they (the movies that is) more concentrate on the caracther driven monologs, in some cases it is understandable in some cases I wonder why some of the big hollywood movies even was made in the first place. The terminators is one of those movies that actually has potential and yes I really like Sara Tomko ..

and yes the movie has it faults and all that but it is something about her presence on screne that just grabs me.

As long as you are fully aware this is a lowbudget b movie you might find it enjoyable in some point and specially if you like tough girls with big guns kind off movies. Sarah Tomko can soon be categorised as a b movie queen as much as Vicky Pratt - whos movies are also lowbudget and done with a passion. Not being biassed since I find both Sara Tomko and Vicky Pratt attractive ^_^

Grizzly Man

A stunning, sometimes surrealistic documentary about Timothy Treadwell who lived 13 summers with wild life grizzly bears in Alaska.
Timothy was in october 2003 killed by a grizzly bear and this is the story about his life.

Early on we see Timothy as some kind off naive man, maybe even a dreamer, who loves bears more then anything. By the scenery, the beautiful landscape of the Alaska wilderness and the beauty of the bears, I can in some way understand him and feel someway the same thing he felt.
Halfway into the documentary, we get another view of Timothy, a man who is maybe more dangerous to himself then the bears was and that is the surrealistic part in this.

Timothy lives close with the bears and consider them as his friends, he even speaks with them as an adult does to children. Timothy was spending most of his time there all alone and it got me thinking, if the lonelyness somehow got the best of him, turning him into this (somehow) naive and lovefull person (his love for the bears).

Werner Herzog, who have done the documentary out of over 100 hours photage that Timothy has shoot narrates us through the story - it actually feels more like a fabricated story then a real life story. Or as Herzog says; It seems to me like this landscape of termoile is a metaphore of his soul.

It is hard to grasp, to understand or to know a man who lived and shoot over 100 hours of his time with the grizzlys, the documentary is in 103 minutes, but we get a somehow reflection of him and his dedication.
If this review or the documentary does Timothys life and passion justice? We will probably never know, but what we do know is that he loved bears more then anything and sometimes that is more then enough.

From the creator of Kiseichuu: kiraa pusshii comes a zombie movie that contains quotes from Shakespeare and Georges Bataille. References to Italian zombie movies, Italian spagetti westerns, Evil dead, Night of the livning dead and also japanese zombie movies. It is ofcourse none other then Takao Nakano
who have written and directed.

Rena Jodo (Sola Aoi) is a stripper, who have just after a one night stand with a bump (she was actually to drunk and slipped into his cardboard…) gets an offer to be a stripper at a spring resort. She accepts and goes there, she meets Ginko (Risa Kasumi), Maria (Mari Sakurai), Nene (Tamayo) and Dana (Io Aikawa). There are not that many in the audience, but soon there will be many of them there moaning, not so much though after their bodies, but more moaning after their flesh..

It is lowbudget and computer effects or plastic tools or other cheap theatrical props, as for example an well out of stone is actually built out of wood and paper. Renas chainsaw is out of old milk carbons - but it is done good so you don´t think of it that it´s fake. The blood is computer generated in afterwards and for when Rena slice her chainsaw through someones chest, the blood splitter but no mark on the shirt is showing.
We also get head spliced from her chainsaw, samurai swords driven through the back of the head and trough the mouth, attacking flying sushis, breasts sprayed full with blood, infected wounds that plop and plop so they almoust burst, flamethrowing pussies… yeah

, if these premises don´t make you interrested - nothing will. Oh, and a department manager from hell is also in it, he also has a card with he gives Rena, just in case she wont believe him, he is Blue Ogre.

There are a lot of funny scenes, the funniest perhaps is after our girls has had a sumo fight and a small man gives Rena some sake - in hope she will get drunk so he can take her to bed later on. The following conversation starts;

- You´re a strong drinker.
- Yes, I am.
- Hey, will you sleep with me tonight?
- No way! That´s totally out of the question.
- How dare you?
- It´s totally impossible to sleep with a creep like you.
----------------------------------- Cut to next scene Rena in bed with….

The movie is in only 73 minutes and it hasn´t got as many nude scenes as Kiseichuu: kiraa pusshii has. Kyonyû is infact in 3D ^_^
Beside all the close ups on breasts and butts it is a funny movie to watch mostly becouse of the dialogue.
Been a long time since I saw such a rater short movie with so many oneliners and memorable quotes and scenes that fits the acters. I can´t lie, this movie isn´t good, it… it it´s just so funny and that is something I love it for, it kept me entertained and for that the verdict most be; buy it now

2010 - a year in the rearviewmirror

Some of the things that has happened over the year. Can´t really put them in order so, enjoy anyway?

Khadijatou Sagnia from Sweden won the Youth Olympic goldmedal in tripplejump on August 23rd in Singapore.

Angelica Bengtsson won also a goldmedal in the Youth Olympic games on August 21th, pole vault. She´s now, aswell as Khadijatou, a prosper medal competitor in the Big Olympic games in Brazil (where Angelicas mother is from) in 2016.

Zlatan Ibrahimović

, won his fifth (5th) consecutive Guldbollen as Swedens best fotball player. Zlatan, born in Malmö a town where a lot of things happened.
Malmö did not only win the mens champions, the ladies also won their leauge.

Some of the most important players in MFF during the season was Guilermo Molins and Agon Mehmeti (known as the new Zlatan)

Other things that happened in Malmö was the shooting of imigrants, the suspected shooter was caught on the same day as the mens team won their gold.
The suspected serial shooter, a white male.
Some might think, hey why not post picture of that one? As said, he is suspected - the police also suspects that there are more then one shooter.

Another man that has caused a lot of headlines during 2010 is the serial rapist in Örebro, also a white man.. and speaking of white and rapist... a police also has been put into jail becouse of multiple rape charges and for planning to buy sex of a minor (16year old girl) along with gangrape and other nasty stuff. Did I mention he was a police?

Oh, I was just out grabbing a smoke and 2 friendly Columbians came and wished me a happy new year ^_^ . Really nice people. And also 2 girls muslim girls wished me a happy new year 2 hours ago while I watched the fireworks.

Yû Aiba is the Samurai princess and she starts with crousing a man severed head, continues with chopping of a mans nose and his ears… hands.. And the rest of his body.

This is a type of comic gore splatter movies from Japan that has flood the market the last years and either you love and understand the funny things in it or you just hate them. Never met anyone who have been inbetween so to speak about these type of movies. We can see small tributes to Peter Jacksons early movies such as Bad taste and Braindead a.k.a. Dead alive.

Beside the obvious tributes to Jacksons earler movies, there is also a tribute to Koroshiya 1 a.k.a. Ichi the killer ( a woman has a scissor like tool on her foot and uses it as a weapon).

Hurioken?

The thing with all these new splatter gore movies from Japan is that they all have been labled as horror. The reason is becouse they have tons of blood, but they are infact pure comedies and are made in a lowbudget (usually shot with handheld camera) and is so over the top that people (normal movie chritics) think they are horror when their point is to make people laugh at the carnage and bloodbath.
Beside, I can´t avoid smile at two cute girls dressed in kimonos pointing out oneliners ^_^

So with that out of the way let´s focus on what this movie is about.
A group lead by Mechas (humans who has transplanted bodyparts and sometimes chainsaws as legs) are out on a killing Spree, some of them (humans) finds a group of young women by a river, the men jumps on them and rape them (the rape scene is not however in the movie, they more or less wrestle around). 2 girls gets away and are later on captured and tortured.

Now one of the surviving girls, left for dead brutaly tortured, wants revenge and in order to have a revenge, she most have new bodyparts.

What makes Samurai purinsesu: Gedô-hime such a funny movie is the two female Mecha hunters and their scenes and the way their scenes has been edited with funny sound effects.
Sneaking is fun

You know that sound that are familuar from various pop up adds from the internet, it may not sound funny at all but as said before, either you love or hate movies like these. Also the movies are fresh and uses a lot of wierd ideas and ingenious weapons. Sure it looks like a cheap cheap, really cheap movie but it is so fun to watch.
So if you wanna watch a movie that doesn´t take itself to serious where women are being attacked with chainsaws (some actually got the chainsaw stuck between her legs… and another one headbutts the chainsaw) or strangled with a tentacle - whom she has been forced to deeptroath… this is a crazy funny splatterfest for you.

Am I then being considered a opressed human being?

Lets face it is rather cold outside, so after some day with high fever wich has resulted in fainting and nosebleed among other things I have came to the conclusion that going outside without covering my nose, my face is by all means, according to the fascists in the swedish political party named folkpartiet, I am considered an opressed humanbeing... oh, yes I am.

Now, the folkpartiet doesn´t ofcourse want me or anyone to freeze as much so they will have nosebleed or even fainting. That I have to carry that to prevent myself for getting even worse, I have to take those precations however.
And, here is the interresting thing. According to the folkpartiet (did I mention they are fascist??)
folkpartiet wants, and this law has just been passed on, that no one should have the right to wear a niqab.
Why? Becouse they (the fascist party) seems to think that people should be able to watch facial expressions when they talk to other people.
Now, I am deafh on one ear and having about 40% hearing capability on the other ear - so I am in need of reading peoples mouths/lips... do I think that the new law is a good idea? In case you haven´t read the entire post, here it comes ONCE AGAIN; folkpartiet is a FASCIST political party. Or to You who don´t understand - No I Do Not Like The New Law.

Peyton List known as Lucy Lane from the tv serie Smallville and her friend Jules (Cameron Goodman) have been in Mexico on a weekend trip and now back in the US they check in at the airport and meet two guys; Matt (Dave Power) and Seth(James Snyder).
Seth hits on Jules and our new lovebirds grabs a taxicab from the airport. The driver (Tony Curran) is gonna take them on a trip none of them will forget.

Mel and Jules

Shuttle is a lowbudget (only $5 millions to shoot) and no real famous actors that I know of or have seen before. Some of the strenghts is the twists within the story, some might see them coming others might think some are “uneccesary”, as for the development between Mel and Jules, specially Jules secret.
The best thing however, beside both Mel and Jules being kidnapped, ducktaped, tied up and blindfolded it is that no direct violent or harm are done towards them.

The movie has some violent scenes and some scenes with blood but those are more for the sake of being there so to speak.
It is listed as a crime, drama thriller but I rather see this one as a sad story in the same mind as The girl next door and Martyrs (Note once again that Shuttle doesn´t have the torture or horror that these two has) or for that matter Mang shan a.k.a. Blind mountain and by naming those movies, it might spoil the movie for some, on the other hand see that as a really good comparison.

Shuttle might not be a movie of the year, it came out 2008, but it is defenitelly a really good lowbudget movie that I sudgest you get it and get it now.
Always nice to be surprised by a movie and Shuttle delivers on basicly all fronts.

In Frank Miller´s 300, Gerald Butler shouted “ This is Sparta!!!”
If he would have been given oneliners in this movie he would have shouted “ This is nihilism!!”

In a close future the world is controlled by a big corporate who have slaved the people by keeping them entertained by a The sims clone game, the game itself is as any game; played by real people, however Society as this game is called, has real people.
The game is a massive succes so as the society (not the game) goes more and more violent and nihilistic, just as the world we live in a new game is made; this time a Running man (the Schwarzenegger movie) and Batoru rowaiaru clone. In other words, people can see and control real killings as entertainment.

Some will see this as a explosive action packed movie with some funny/corny scenes; Ken Castles dance and songperformance; I got you, under my skin.
It is fitting as well as the name of Kable (Gerard Butler) wich gives the hint that he is connected to the internet (internet cable) or that the one big bad guy; Hackman (Terry Crews) that are being put into the game to kill Kable.
Gamer however is a satire of the world we live in and even if the plot may give hints to snuff (killing for pure entertainment) it´s not to be taken as that, even if the phrase; Life is cheap pops up from time to time.

It is ment to be a satire and to make you think (beside looking at the explosions and the many close ups on asses and breasts) it doesn´t gave me much. The idea is somehow overdone and made its peak in Batoru rowaiaru.
If you will you can see it as a fascist wet dream or you simply enjoy the explosions, big guns and bad ass men running around and shooting eachother.

Kable and many others has been put into this game where they will fight in a war against other murderers for the pure enjoyment of the slimy Castle (Michael C Hall) and billions across the world.
What I found interresting though was that despite the satire it didn´t gave me any feeling whatsoever, speaking of snuff movies, to sum up this movie I simply will quote the ending line from the spanish masterpiece Tesis; ”Ok, so what´s on the other chanel?”

Rewatch The running man and or Batoru rowaiaru instead.

In Mexico an nature disaster and radical changes in the climate is about to happen, the climate quickly goes from sunshine to snow.
In San Diego a gigantic tornado sweeps across town, In Iran, Saudi Arabia, Japan, Russia strange weather activity starts to unfold.

Dr Frank Richards (Dale Midkiff) and his team are in the middle of an vulcanic eruption in Mexico and the clock is ticking down to the possible last 36 hours of mankind.

In another part of Mexico a young doctor, Sarah (Danae Nason) tries to help a small village and the people living there. She meets a young pregnant woman, Wakanna (Sarah Tomko).

Those of you who wants to see this in hope of getting an action packed CGI movie do rewatch 2012 instead.
2012 Doomsday are full of religious talk about how great and mysterious god is. I don´t mind movies who mixes in religion, not at all, but in a apocalyptic full scale disater movie I don´t need to be reminded by it in every scene, more or less.
The carachters sure believes in it and with a doomsday just hours away it is somehow understandable that your mind starts to question a lot of things - but that´s another topic perhaps.

The reasons why I wanted to see this movie in the first place are that the whole 2012 myth is interresting, believable or not, it is something that we all can in some way reelate to. Mankind has always been afraid of the final hour/the final judgement and so on. So as a movielover I ain´t no different.
The mainreason however I was interrested in this movie was that Sarah Tomko stars in it.

2012 Doomsday is more about the carachters journy towards a goal; ending the end of times, then a CGI blockbuster movie that Roland Emmerich made. How strange and akward it may sound, this version has more heart then the 2009 version. Interresting to campare them and in some way it may be a misstake doing so. It also remins me of the apocalyptic warnings(?) in the 1988 movie The Seventh Sign.
We all have our beliefs and or doubts, 2012 Doomsday doesn´t make me a believer, just convincing me more that Sarah Tomko is a beautiful actress who I wanna see more of.

Take some of the ingridience from the matrix trilogy and some parts from Oceans 11,12 & 13 and you got a big, sometimes, confusing big massive.. over rated movie.

Sure some gonna stop reading this review after that.
I checked the rating on imdb and it was a massive 9.0. My question was a mix of confusion and chock; Had we seen the same movie?
The director screenwriter is Christoper Nolan, the same man who fooled everyone with the overhyped The dark knight. Why that is so overrated and considered a dark epic movie? Well since the poster shows a skyscrape in flames with the Batman logo in it… or, is it the simple fact that your unconsious tells you that it recembles the horrific picture from the Twin tower buildings on 9/11?

So, what is Inception about?
It is a science fiction tale about a burgler named Cobb (Leonardo DiCaprio) and his close friend Arthur (Joseph Gordon-Levitt). They aren´t your regular burglers who likes to break into houses or banks and steal money or jewelry, These steal ideas.. From the mind of people. And I just felt like I was robbed of my intillect.

The sound that echoes thrughout the entire trailer (more or less) and in the more science fiction action scenes are somehow reminding me of how the tripods from War of the worlds sounded like.
In all honesty there was nothing from the trailer or the fact that Ellen Page was in this, she playes Ariadne, who made me wanna see this. The only reason was that Ken Watanabe as Saito was in this and he is the only actor who does a good job.

So, Ariadne who study under Miles (Sir Michael Caine) gets the job as a architect, she will create a world within a dream. The dream is gonna be planted by Cobb inside the mind of Robert Fischer (Cillian Murphy) so Saito can get in total control of.. something.

Ariadne starts to bend houses and streets but our hero; Cobb, sees the danger and the tripod music is played (ooooooooh scary). And then our team are thrown into a washing machine, but it is in a hotel corridore, but inside a dream, emh, that is a fantasy… of Robert Fischer..that Cobb has created, and Ariadne also..

I might not have been in the mood watching this, so I watched it again, same feeling, it is a rip off from the semi intelectual/quasi intelectual movie about philosophy and life (read; The Matrix). Inception doesn´t go that far, it mixes in some action scenes every now and then but mostly Leonardo looks tired and a bit chubby.

It is told that this movie is a groundbreaking movie, the only ground it breaks is that once again people have been fooled to believe that a big block buster movie with sometimes nice camera setting is a masterpiece.
Ask the producers to give you your money back, or else you are indeed a part of this movie; your mind has been robbed!

Once again Jessica Alba gets tied up and gagged in a movie, she has a remarkable career and stats ending up like that in movies.

You who have seen the fake trailer from Robert Rodriguez Planet terror project (he co wrote and directed that with Quentin Tarantino) knows what poolscene I´m referering to. The poolscene isn´t the only scene from the trailer that are edited into the full lenght movie - wich in all honesty makes this a wierd semi sketch movie - now I´m being way to mean.

As you all probably know by now Machete (Danny Trejo) is a bad ass mexican who have been doublecrossed after he has taken an asignement of killing George W Bush..no wait, I ment Senator John McLaughlin (Robert De Niro).

McLaughlin uses the same phrases as W did; Fight terrorism etc etc.
Beside all the kick ass action scenes Rodriguez also manage to show more humor then any of his earler movies (haven´t seen spy kids so don´t blame me to hard) but he also makes a lot of political statements.
We maby should see Machete both as a political satire as much as a action packed A list B movie(the cast is impressive). It might not be the movie of 2010 (henche the sketch type feeling I got from different scenes) but who cares really?

The reson why the most of us chosen to see this is for the fact that Alba is being nude in the shower(she did infact had a bikini on but it was edited out afterwards).

Lohan walking topless in the pool (but it´s the scene where Machete makes out with April and her mom that has another actress then Lohan). But the real tip of the cake is Michelle Rodriguez ….. … yum yum, she is way hotter then I ever seen her before.

So with all those things out of the picture (or how you wanna say), let´s talk a little more about the movie.
Machete is an former Mexican police that has been doublecrossed and now he tries to live an normal life in US.
A man with political ideas contacts him on the street and gives him an offer; either you shoot and kill a politician or you are sent back to Mexico.
Ofcourse our hero Machete is doublecrossed, again, and that is where all "hell" brakes loose.

Luz (Michelle Rodriquez) works by the corner of a street selling coffe and fastfood, she is being harassed by Sartana Rivera (Alba) a cop who, according to Luz has turned against her own people (hispanic/Mexicans) and trying to ship them back to where they came from.
Luz, on the side, also has an army ready to strike back at the corrupt politicians and cops all she need is someone who can join all the people, someone like Machete.

Mexicans and other hispanic people joins in and fight against the evil corrupt police and politicians. There will be explotions, gunfights, naked women, a white guy acting like wato locos, a mute guy who draws his answers (he even draws the final battle) blood, guts and more.

Beside the fact that Machete feels like a sketch movie, the camera work are infact a little to good for being a B movie tribute. It may sound strange, but if Rodriguez would have kept the style he had in Planet terror (for example), Machete would have been better. Even these minor faults(?) Machete is a really funny and entertaining movie with an impressive cast, even Steven Seagal is funny and that is something I didn´t expect.
Allthough this movie has DeNiro, Jeff Fahey, Don Johnson, Jessica Alba, Lindsay Lohan, Danny Trejo, Cheech Marin, Tom Savini in a funny cameo., Machete is all Michelle Rodriguez movie ^_^

If you haven´t seen this allready, or if you allready have - do watch it (Again).

Do you want a bloodbath? Then this is the movie to watch. Oh and two women are being tied up aswell.

Raizo, played by the Korean pop singer Rain, is a young man that has been trained (and even tortured/trained extremly hard) in the mythical style known as ninja.
We follow Raizo and Mika (Naomie Harris) who is an europool investigator. She investigates why so many politicians and other top key people are being killed in the most brutal way.
The legend says that when the light goes out, the ninja is coming for you.

Raizo has turned his back against his master and now a bunch of bad ass ninjas are after him. Why he abondened the ninja clan? Without giving to much away it is becouse someone close to his heart has been killed infront of his eyes. So Raizo sets out for revenge, an revenge that will leave a lot of men and their bodyparts in his path.

Ninja assassin is a ”all boy” movie, what is there else to expect from a movie about a revengefull ninja anyway? The over the top violence is in the same style if you mixes the first Matrix (the bullet time scenes) with the most brutal/violent scenes from Frank Miller´s 300. I actually think that ninja assassin outclasses 300 on that level.

The actionscenes are both mixed with slowmotion scenes and ”realtime” scenes so to speak. The actionscenes are well done, but someway so over the top that it almoust becomes laughable in the end. The movie is ment to be a serious (in those terms as a serious pop corn movie) and not an ironich movie, even though there is some tounge in cheek jokes here; as for when Raizo is captured and a police say - He doesn´t look like a killingmachine to me sir. Looks like he belongs in a boyband.

Despite all the killings, the choped off heads, legs, arms, fingers, slized bodies there is a short lovestory involved. Not that it is your thypical kind of lovestory, but it is there. Through flashbackscenes we are being introduced to Kimiko (Anna Sawai)
and how she finds her way into the soon to become coldhearted assassin Raizos heart, a heart that he has explained to her that he doesn´t have.

If you have missed this I suggest you atleast watch it once and enjoy the carnage that a ninja can leave behind.

Mix War of the worlds, District 9, Stephen King´s The mist with the political racial tendencies of US against Mexico and you get Gareth Edwards Monsters.

The scientists as NASA has sent a spacecraft to outer space in hope to find alien lifeform or data that they exist. 6 years later the probe crashes between Mexico and US.
Aliens or new lifeforms as they are called starts to florish. The US and Mexican military fights together against ”the evil” creatures.
In the midle of it all an american tourist; Samantha Wynden ( Whitney Able) tries to leave Mexico and the ”infected zone” where the new treathening lifeform lives. An photographer; Andrew Kaulder (Scott McNairy) gets the job to escort her safe back to the US.

The phase of the movie is kind a slow and not so much action are happening, thank you for that - after the overhyped and rather boring District 9 - it was fresh to see a science fiction movie about aliens as the ”good guys” and the people as the ”bad guys”. Well it is more obvious in District 9, but it is actually more fitting and told in a more sad way in Monsters. The way the aliens call out to one another are similuar to the elephants funny and cute sound. The aliens itself looks like a mixture of the tripods from War of the worlds and a gigantic octopus - nice tentacles.

The strenght of Monsters are the two leads who are very humain in their roles and the feeling that we as a viewer actually are with them on their journey from the poor Mexican city via the jungle and reaching a gigantic wall on the US boarder.

As much as Monsters is an semi apocalyptic story it can be seen as a political statement (if you want to); the growing fear of Mexicans or other ”illegal immigrants” or in this case illegal aliens that are ”on it´s way to US”, the military are set in to Control the masses. But these huge aliens (they are mostly hiding and only shows themself at night) are not exactly a threat.

If you are into monster movies, science fiction or films in general do watch this.

A young new couple out on their first date are being attacked by a man, they wake up, tied and ballgagged in a room full with tools, one of the tools is a chainsaw and he gonna use it.
But first he gonna make them both cum.

Tsugumi Nagasawa as Aki (she has worked as an AV idol under the name Asami Tachibana) and her date Kazuo ( Hiroaki Kawatsure) and Shigeo Ôsako as the sadistic torturer (he looks like a young Bīto Takeshi or Kitano Takeshi as he´s more known as).

Gurotesuku is the new and extreme wave of japanese torture movies, it was banned in UK and in some cases I can understand why. It is in some parts disturbing and if that has something to do with the fact that Kazuos penis and balls gets tortured or that Aki has her nippels cut off… hoops, I guess I spoiled a lot there. See it as a warning instead, since this movie ain´t for everybody.
Those who have seen Ginī Piggu knows what to expect.
The difference between these movies are that Gurotesuku has a lot more dialog and that the sound effects are more nasty. For example, when he fingers Aki we clearly hear the squishing sound from his fingers rapidly working her pussy.

Despite all the grusome torture there are some wicked humor in this, hey it is after all an japanese movie. A conversation takes place between Aki and Kazuo where they promise to stay together, Kazuo then says; I´m so happy now that I have to poop.

On the other hand, no wonder why it´s banned in the UK. If the madman plays Pomp and Circumstance while he torture them, ofcourse a bann will follow. Those brits has no sense of humor.
I say, buy it, becouse this is not only brutal it is also funny.

As banned books week gets underway, and President Obama admonishes oppressive regimes for their censorship of the Internet, a group of powerful Senators -- Republicans and Democrats alike -- have signed onto a bill that would vastly expand the government's power to censor the Internet.

The Combating Online Infringement and Counterfeits Act (COICA) was introduced just one week ago, but it's greased and ready to move, with a hearing in front of the Judiciary Committee this Thursday. If people don't speak out, US citizens could soon find themselves joining Iranians and Chinese in being blocked from accessing broad chunks of the public Internet.

COICA creates two blacklists of Internet domain names. Courts could add sites to the first list; the Attorney General would have control over the second. Internet service providers and others (everyone from Comcast to PayPal to Google AdSense) would be required to block any domains on the first list. They would also receive immunity (and presumably the good favor of the government) if they block domains on the second list.

The lists are for sites "dedicated to infringing activity," but that's defined very broadly -- any domain name where counterfeit goods or copyrighted material are "central to the activity of the Internet site" could be blocked.

One example of what this means in practice: sites like YouTube could be censored in the US. Copyright holders like Viacom often argue copyrighted material is central to the activity of YouTube, but under current US law, YouTube is perfectly legal as long as they take down copyrighted material when they're informed about it -- which is why Viacom lost to YouTube in court.

But if COICA passes, Viacom wouldn't even need to prove YouTube is doing anything illegal to get it shut down -- as long as they can persuade the courts that enough other people are using it for copyright infringement, the whole site could be censored.

Perhaps even more disturbing: Even if Viacom couldn't get a court to compel censorship of a YouTube or a similar site, the DOJ could put it on the second blacklist and encourage ISPs to block it even without a court order. (ISPs have ample reason to abide the will of the powerful DOJ, even if the law doesn't formally require them to do so.)

Some people surely makes a lot of noice, either by their mouth or by using explosives, like bombs.

Using bombs is Never a good thing, it doesn´t matter who use it, for what reason or against whom or what. It doesn´t get any simplier then that. Ofcourse some thinks it is difficult, some thinks it is a good idea. Like the swedish new law, they think it is a good idea... or do they?

On december 1st 2010, it will be Illeagal to talk/write in a possitive manner about terrorism. That is as easy as 1 - 2 - 3..?
But what is terrorism?

So what about a person writing the following on his/her blog (for example).

Is that quote, if it would have been a real quote, would it be considered a terrorist propaganda quote?

Let me explain myself.
People all over suffers from the colapsing echonomy and looses their jobs, their income, their sallery, their right to have a house (for that you have to have money-to pay the rent and etc). But if some people gets sacked/laid off from their work and some people gain from it, would that then be a terrorist act? And maybe most important; Why wouldn´t it be?

Everyone knows that we, the people of this planet, are facing tougher times, darker times. Sure some blame a group of people or an religion, becouse it is easy to do so.
In Hungary antisemites/neo fascisms marches the streets and blames are upon Jews, Gypsys.
In Italy, the leading political party Lega Nord says things like "We should exterminate all gypsys."
In Sweden, a newly selected party wants to blame and send away every (or most of the) muslims from sweden. Gypsys has also been sent away and in Malmö 19 shootings has taken place, each of the victims are imigrants.

The defense minister in sweden; Sven Tolgfors has said in a radioshow that "The debate makes it harder for our serving troops in Afghanistan.."
The debate is if sweden should or should not have any troops in Afghanistan.
In short terms; those who think sweden shouldn´t; they make it hard for the troops - In long terms, it can mean that we (who don´t support the idea of troops being there) support terrorism.
That is what the new upcoming december 1st law is gonna be about. Do Not questioning or argue on why stupidity exists.

So what is terrorism?
Attacking a country and killing people there?
use torture against people, whom are not sharing your religion?
Buy and selling stocks? Causing people their wellfare, job, homes?

I will explain this on what I´m trying to tell you. But first things first.

Social network has been the talk of the big cinematic world for over 1/2 year now. Why is that? Have I seen the movie in the first place?
Haven´t seen it and will Not do so.

Why watch a movie that tells how a internet phenom (I´m willing to admit that anyway) was created; Facebook. Ain´t a user of it, have no friends - atleast to my knowledge, that uses it. It´s fair to say we have better things to do.

So the movie tells the story of a computer geek who started facebook and he also has a proantagonist (the enemy later on started Napster) and his day to day struggle..I guess.
I have wondered why this movie has been hyped so much, well when a big chance of collecting some more cash, ofcourse some people will promote it beyond insanity.

Why not make a big block buster movie on milk?
Ain´t talking about Harvey Milk (the homosexual politician in San Fransisco - the Sean Penn movie). I´m talking about milk, that comes directly from cows. Everyone in the western (modernised"?") world has tasted it, we use it in our everyday life more or less. But somehow it wouldn´t be interresting to make a movie about.

Other big hypes the last year in the cinema/DVD world?

In a movie that has been praised as one of the last 10 years best movies, mostly from middleage male movie reviewers (actually I think I´m the only one who have the guts to hate it). In the movie a, at the time, 11 year old female shows her pussy. Sure the males gonna shout wild and hype the movie.
The title of the movie? Let the right one in.

Another big block buster hit was also a movie that starred a 11 year old girl, whom had a scene where she was dressed in a short skirt, long socks, white shirt, pigtails and had a confused look on her face. The ultimate lolita, the movie was ofcourse; Kick ass.

Now, it seems like the movie industry more willingly wanna portray young - and I Do mean Young - girls in speculative scenes. After all, the promo pictures of Kick ass was more or less all about hit girl posing in the outfit (as described above) with a big gun in her hand.

But it´s all entertainment someone says.
Sure I can buy that. Did I like the movies? No, do I think it´s ok that young girls are portrayed as this? Well Shirley Temple wasn´t exactly 20 when she had her breakthrough, neither was Elisabeth Taylor, nor Natalie Portman and the list goes on and on ... and yes I ain´t ashamed to tell the truth that Jessie Pham (also 11 - maby even 12 - at the time) was AMAZING in Martyrs. Or that Erica Scott also was phenomenal in Martyrs. Or that Sasisa Jindamanee was Amazing in Kerd ma lui, in Somtum aswell. Now that is the only young girl whom should been considered to have the nickname Kick (ass)girl.

So will social network become a monster hit and cash in even more billions? Sure why not. And meanwhile I´d be drinking some milk and writing a script about a 11 year girl named Anaïs, the title of the movie? Voyerisme.
And that ain´t about whatever you may fantasize about. It ain´t either a entertaining movie, you will understand when you see it.

A.k.a. Blind mountain
In a rural small village somewhere in China a young, newly graduated girl, are going by a bus along a beautiful mountain road. She is looking for work and a young man says he is gonna help her. Bai Xuemei (Lu Huang) happy and a bit to naive accept his offer, now she can find a job. What she will find is far more terrifying then she ever could have dreamed of, she is drugged and kidnapped by a man in a small
village in northern China where she will be used and serve as his bride, she will also be used sexually.

By the time Bai Xuemei gets to the mountain village, she instantly tries to run away, some men drag her inside a house and tie her up by the bed, soon her new husband enters the room…
The story takes place in early 1990´s China and is NOT a violent movie
by any standard, so if you are looking for a violent movie do not
bather with Mang shan. Even though, Bai Xuemei get beaten sometimes during the movie, it´s not a bloody or disgusting movie with explicit imagery. On the cuntrouary it is actually a beautiful movie (cinemathograpic wise that is), really well acted. The villagers are no real acters, infact they are real villagers living and working as portrayed in the movie, they have talent and it makes this a documentary gritty feel to it. In fact, Lu Huang is the only proper schooled actor in the movie.

Bai Xumei

The chines government laid their filthy hands (filthy as in censorship) on this movie and cut out a lot - so the story goes anyway. So an uncut version of this may never see the light of day (something tells me the scenes that was cut out will never be replaced or discovered).
Mang shan critisizes the whole sexslave/human trafficking scenario and knowing that the government actually have cut this movie (what did they actually cut out? After all they left the rapescenes intact(?) ..)

Bai Xumei tied up

Mang shan a.k.a. Blind mountain is a drama and is told and acted in a
slow phase wich at times can make it hard to watch, but it�s well worth
the time to follow her tragic time as one of many traffic victims and
her attempts to freedom (yes she escapes sometimes).
I did however during the movie come to think about the Stockholm
syndrome* (see link below) and you do feel for Bai Xuemei as long as
the movie goes on.

The first rape

Bai Xumei doesn´t react after a while to how the men threats her. It is painfully, in a sad classic chinese dramatic way portraid in a specific scene, that her will has gone and she has in some way accepted her faith.

Yang Li has made a powerful, touching, a bit provocing and sad movie. This is only his debut; In other words keep an eye on this guy. Keep also an eye on Lu Huang.
If you haven´t seen this I highly recomend Mang shan and if you by some odd reson have made it through this porly written review (believe me, the movie is much better then I can describe) you copy and paste this link and order the DVD. You will Not be dissapointed, well maybe you will - but that dissapointment will not be on the movie, but on the way some men and some laws actually support things like this. As sad this movie is, it is uplifting (Finally the cinamatic world have the guts to do movies about this topic) and that is really important.

Make a movie for an estimated sum of $12 MILLIONS and add some of the most horrific and most important issues of today and the opening weekend the movie will have a gross intect of only $215.000 after a month.. is this how sick/naive the world is? Or is the movie asking to many questions about a topic that is so scary that people avoided it?

Adriana (Paulina Gaitán) is a young girl living in Mexico city with her family, infact she has just turned 13 and gets a bike from her brother Jorge (Cesar Ramos) as a birthday present. Their mother suspects that Jorge has stolen the bike, Jorge leaves after an arguement to join his friends. Adriana however, happy for the present sneaks out the other day with her bike, a car follows her, some russians kidnapp her - soon even Adriana is one of many many sextraffic victims.

The kidnapping of Adriana

Veronika(Alicja Bachleda-Curuś) a polish girl, arrives in Mexico City at the same time as the kidnapping of Adriana. She meets a woman and some men at the airport, Veronika seems a bit nervous meeting them, the intention is as I see it that we are made to believe she is an illegal imigrant. The men sets her up outside of the airport and take her away in their van.
She is being taken to an hideout where she will be beaten and raped.

Jorge and his friends manage to spot the kidnappers and Jorge sets out after them. The kidnapping of his sister seems not to have been an act of random, infact this is an organized well founded gang who have taken more children together with Adriana. Jorge later on meet Ray (Kevin Kline) who works as a federal investigator, now they both have to find Adriana before she is sold over the internet to some pedophile.

Trade is a extremely important movie based on Peter Landesman's
Story "The Girls Next Door" from NY Times about sextrafficking.
Mang shan a.k.a. Blind Mountain, a review of that will be posted soon also,
touches upon the same dark issues.
Trade however is more told, written, shot and acted as Steven Soderberghs
oscarwinning movie about the drug trafficking between Mexico and US;

They both uses the same "lightbrown layer/filter" in various scenes and in all honesty; Trade outnumbers Traffic completly.

So, does Trade handle this issue well?
The acting is really good by everyone in the cast, maby mostly from Kevin Kline, Cesar Ramos and Alicja Bachleda-Curuś.
It´s after all not an topic that is easy to handle but the director Marco Kreuzpaintner and the screenwriter Jose Rivera has done a great job to make this movie. For the topic and for trying to raise the awerness of all this, it might be together with Mang shan some of the most important movies in the last decade.

The tagline to the movie is; Don´t see it alone.
My thought on that And the movie is as easy as the tagline and the plot of the movie; See it when you are tired.

Now people who read this may smile or laugh about the whole thing, but I do believe in ghosts, spirits and demons, evil as good.
So by that this movie should scare me really good, right?

A young couple; Katie (Katie Featherston ) and Micha (Micah Sloat ) are having something uninvited in their lovely home, well Micah is kind of suspicious about it, but Katie has experienced this before. The uninvited thing is a thing .. or… a demon? A ghost? A spirit? Or is it only in Katies head?

We start the movie right away, so to speak, Micah has bought a big videocamera (wich actually makes this movie a old 70/80s feeling to it, allthough they have a modern home and a big plasma tv). He starts speaking in a ironic way about the possible entity that are in the house, even Katie kind of smiles about it. The days goes by, mostly we see the camera on a tripod shooting Katie and Micah in bed at night, scary creepy things starts to happen.
Doors moving, sounds from the room, light being turned on and off..

Katie and Micha has a "good nights" sleep..?

Paranormal activity has been using the same idea (double time) as Blairwitch project. That is, shot in extreme small budget with a handvideo camera using unknown actors.
And, secondly, using simple promotion by the internet.
The smart idea is ofcourse the simplicity of it, to let the unknown actors having their real first name as the characters (it (in some way unitentionally) will make you think that these people do exist for real and that this has happened).

After 10 minutes into the movie I had it all figured out and knew how it would ended, and that is a big weekness that this movie has.
It tries to copy the Blairwitch project completely and it succeds at more or less every level. However, Paranormal activity plays also on the claustrofobic tense since all is taking place in the house (actually the director/screenwriter´s Oren Peli´s own house). It also doesn´t get chilling untill the last 4-5 minutes, as did Blairwitch project.

Some thinks that this is one of the decades most horrific movies, or even one of the scariest movies of all time. For me, it´s an good one time watch, at best.
The reason for the quote ” See it when you are tired.” is that Paranormal activity, as stated, mostly takes place in the bedroom and that it is slow and builts up to the ending scene - wich atleast I had figured out long time ago.

I thought I would like it, due to the claustrofobic nature and the spirit/ghost haunted thing. But I became annoyed and quite frankly angry. Not angry on the filmmaker or the acting, nor on the script - since I like the idea a lot. Maby it was to much of a let down (read; the hype of it all) for me.

Allthough this ain´t exatly a movie I will watch again, it is an enjoyable little flick and in some way I can admire the intention of it. But I do Not think it is a phenom or a scary movie of the year.
Worthy one watch and if you feel like watching it, do watch it when you are tired.

Long time ago in Japan, farmers used to burn human and animals hair, only to protect their fields from evil beasts and spirits. That was called Kagashi.
Later on, the farmers built manlike dolls in hope to scare the spirits, these dolls was called Kakashi; Scarecrows.

The legendary Itô Junji made a manga on the Kakashi myth. This is the movie based on the manga.
Kaoru Yoshikawa (Maho Nonami )

searches for her brother Tsuyoshi (Shunsuke Matsuoka who also starred as Chihiro´s boyfriend in the classic Furiizu Mii a.k.a. Freeze me) and in his apartment she finds a letter, inside the letter there are dried short straws wich has significant meanings to the story.
She goes to the small village Kozukata. Kaoru finds it and to get to the village she has to go trough a tunnel, most like Chihiro and her family does in Chihiro no kamikakushi http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0245429/
It can be seen as a portal into another world.

Kaoru soon reaches the Kozukata village

While at Kozukata, Kaoru finds a lot of strange eerie people, just like you would expect from a Itô Junji adaptation (see Uzumaki for example). Among others she finds a woman with a perambulator, but in it is not a baby or an infant, but a scarecrow.

Kaoru then meets the Miyamori family, or atleast what´s left of it. Their daughter Izumi ( Kou Shibasaki from batoru rowaiaru and Chakushin ari ) has died and she was the one who have send the letter to Tsuyoshi as an invitation to the village, a village that co exists with death.

The director Norio Tsuruta is more or less perfect for this movie since he did made the third Ringu movie ( Ringu 0: Bâsudei ) a year before Kakeshi, 3 years after, he also did Yogen. Norio rely more on the story, characters and the atmosphere then on violent or chocking images/blood and gore. It is refreshing to see that, since a lot of movies nowadays tends to be brutal just for the brutalatys sake so to speak. Itô Junji is also a master of creating stories that captures you and he doesn´t either put gore into his stories.

The festival is about to begin

Kakashi is maby not your everyday horror, it´s built up and acted as a drama, with some mixes of heartbreaking scenes and also some unexplainable horror.
The horror is the unhumanlike humans (sounds wierd I know) in the village, they are more like spirits, cast under some spell with no facialexpression whatsoever. That is the scary thing, seeing these mindless walking bodies with no emotion staring at Kaoru as she arrives at this small village.

Kaoru meets, beside the Miyamori´s, Sari Chen/Gurêsu Ippu (actress Grace Yip ) who at first sight seems to be as all the others, so what is ”wrong” with all the people?
Sari is reported missing, we see her picture by the side of the road as Kaoru finds the village, soon Kaoru also finds the horrific and sad truth about the village. She also finds her brother. But will the villagers let them leave during this scarecrow festival?

The acting is topclass and special credits to Kou Shibasaki becouse she shows what she can do, even though her screentime is minimal.
The sceenery/cinematography is really really good and in some way ads to the sad story.
In the beginning of this review I mention that the farmers usel to burn hair, in the prefecture Tôhoku (located in northern Japan), more specially in the capital Yamagata helds a Kakashi festival each year. See more info below.

Izumi sneaks up on Kauro

If you feel like watching something different and beautiful at the same time (with a touch of sadness and, with the ”typical zombie ending”) I suggest you give Kakashi a try.
It may not give you chills or a wet eye, but it will touch you and that is what Itô Junji is so good at - his stories will not leave you that easy.

The famous words from The Beatles song. So why writing about that now? Does it have somethiung to do that the french government (President Nicolas Sarkozy's plan) to raise the retirement age to 62 from 60. All becouse accordingly to them " becouse the echonomy depends on it."

So, working two years longer doesn´t seems that hard?
But what we have to understand, people live becouse out of free will and work is not (in most cases) a free will. Work is something that is essential - a Must, to make things barely worth living. That Is a fact, a solid and honest fact. So, the reteriment is something that a lot of people are looking forward to - not only becouse having sparetime and hopefully to be able to do things as long as You can without getting extra help.

By raising this to 62 instead of todays 60, two more years, LESS, to live and enjoy life. But it may get even worse "Unions hope the turnout will oblige the government to back down over the flagship reform of Sarkozy's five-year term, which would also raise the age at which people can retire on a full pension to 67 from 65."

So, no wonder that 2.9 million had marched against this legislation. As I wrote in Vive La Révolution back in July this year; Paris, the mother of city protests - every year approximantly 1.000 protests is held - Every Year.

Gabriella Martinez (Roselyn Sanchez) and Frank Luis (Danny Trejo wich also is the co producer) are two officers in Los Angeles in the mid 80s. It is the time of insanity and the time of the night stalker; Richard Ramirez ( Bret Roberts).

Another serialkiller movie based on real events, I mainly bought this becouse of Roselyn Sanchez, Danny Trejo and that Ramirez was a serial rapist/serial killer. I didn´t mind that the ratings was low and that it had gotten bad reviews.
So was it a good call buying this or is it as bad as the rating says?

First this movie clearly try to show that Ramirez was an really disturbed individuell - by showing him tossing his head in ultrarapid while strange sounds and backmasking(?) voices speaks to him in his head. Even the trailer is full of those clips.

It feels like it is not needed to demonize this man any more then what his crimes has given him “credits“ for. Sure he was a devilworsipper and clearly insane. But it doesn´t have to be shown as in fast edited clips and subliminal fast images of a pale white man - a demon who commands Ramirez to do his evil deeds. We do understand that Ramirez was insane without those techniques.

We don´t get to see much of the actual rapes or killings, just the results of some of the murders and when he chain up a girl it is with fast flashing images so it´s hard to see what really happens.
The acting is solid however I thought Danny Trejo, who is a great acter, could have done more though.

And speaking of a rape/killing that happened in real, but ain´t in the movie. A 13 year old girl get raped and stabbed to death, shortly after her mother had gone trough the same thing, the mom dies but the daughter runs away (or gets killed "off screen"

It is a bit interresting that the movie also try to put in some sexual- and rasist scenes/comments towards Gabriella. Her police chief slaps her ass, tells her that she has an impressive background (as in what her education concerns) and that she is good looking and smart, wich he thinks is a rare combination.
To put those scenes in this type of film feels a bit strange - for me anyway.

Roselyn Sanchez is as always good looking and I do hope she can be in bigger and better productions someday, she deserves it.
Nightstalker is not a good movie, if you however feel more attracted to Roselyn Sanchez then the serialkilling movies or movies about women being raped (there is a brief scene wich happens outside the screen), then you maby atleast should see this.

A young boy and his mother runs through the forest in Philippines, acording to the Philippine folklore a vampire like creature lives there.
The young boy, Lukas Esguerra (Richard Gutierrez), sees his big brother being killed by these creatures called Aswang.
20 years later, Lukas works as a doctor and he gets a call that someone has captured the one who has killed his family.

Lukas sets out to the hospital, where one of the nurses - Betty (Miriam Quiambao) takes him into the cellar of the hospital.

and the doctor Alfred Molina (TJ Trinidad) tells him of a non human creature like nothing they have seen before. Lukas demands to see this monster, he needs to see who killed his family, what he sees in the cell deep down in the basement is not that kind of monster we suspect, but a young hot looking female.

Yam Laranas the director and co writer with Aloy Adlawan seems not to have made up their mind on what kind of movie they wanted to make in the first place.
It mixes drama with the classical western vampire stories, but these Aswangs ain´t exactly sure if they gonna bite or chew air infront of their victims.
The strenght of patient X is the development between Lukas and the female Aswang, Guada (Cristine Reyes). The movie is in 108 minutes but the version I watched was only in 86 minutes (plus 5 minutes of ending credits). The final result, the 86 minutes version atleast, becomes more of an occupied survival horror type of movie.

The weekness is that the actionscenes are really bad to be honest. They mostly shuffle around and grab the shirt then trying to kill their opponent; wheter it´s a human or an Aswang.
It also, according to the director, is a take on what would happen if we (humans) would be able to capture a Aswang. So what happens? Obviously a lot of pushing and grabbing.

Patient X tries to be scary, atleast I think it tries, but since it copies to much from western way of making vampire movies and that the leader of the Aswang looks more like Rob Zombie

it was hard to take it serious. However the acting is good at some parts (the more drama of the movie) specially between Lukas and Guada. May be that they both believed in the story more then I or that due to the fact Heart Evangelista
who was supposed to play the part of Guada left the shooting since she have seen a ghost and called for a priest to bless the setting.

It is allthough I didn´t like this movie an interresting take on the whole myth. It is also refreshing to see a ”new country" (I guess you haven´t seen that many Philippine horror movies either) doing their version on horror. I will give this a second view someday.

Welcome to the wicked sureal world of Edogawa Ranpo, the legend who wrote Môjû.
Môjû tai Issunbôshi is based on "The Dark Eyes Of London" By Edgar Wallace who later on was rewritten by Rampo Edogawa.

Monzô Kobayashi (Ririi Furankii) is a writer who stumbles upon Ranko Mizuki (Mutsumi Fujita) who dances at a burlesque show where also some transvestites are on.
Ranko is beautiful and dances and sing, she gets a lot of attention from the semihorny crowd (all men), everyone seems to enjoy the show, except one man who is blind.

Monzô later on that night sees a dwarf that has something in his bag, a hand of a woman, so he follows him but looses tracks on him. Later Monzô tries to solve the mystery while the blind man has allready captured Ranko.
Hisayoshi Hirayama Môjû/blind man has Ranko chained up and beets her with peace of wood…

When Môjû (the 1969 classic) was a great story about lust, longing for a womans body/adoring the several bodyparts of it and madness, Môjû tai Issunbôshi is more of a sad story where a bullied dwarf seeks revenge and the blind man is as ”insane” as in the original movie, he is insane for real this time however.

This ain´t by any stretch of your imagination as great as Môjû is (Môjû is easily one of the top 20 movies of all time in my book). It lacks some of the sympathy for the blind man that was slowly built up in the 1969 classic, it also twistes to much in my opinion between various carachters. The acting is from time to time good and sometimes acted a bit cheesy (attentional or not I don´t know), it has some strange scenes - due to the fact that it was a lowbudget set. It was shot in 2001, had a teathrical release in 2004 and hit the DVD market in 2006.
A movie that has so long time between actual cut to releases on the white screen or DVD most of the time witness that the movie isn´t that great.

So is this one bad? Is it awful? I would say it is interresting becouse the potential is there, but the result wasn´t satisfying allthough it starts slow and increases towards the end it never reaches some kind of climax.
Môjû tai Issunbôshi is more of a detective drama, allthough it was the first film in Britain to receive the H (for Horror) certificate.

On the plus scale is that I actually fond it hard to believe this one was made in 2001, all the acters, the cinematography is spot on from a 70s movie and some of the poor(?) editing makes it more autenthic as a 70s detective movie.
Also there is a scene where Ranko is taking of her dress and drinks wine, the blind man is on the floor, she drools out the wine all over her chest so it drips down in the mouth of the happy blind man.

Môjû tai Issunbôshi was the last movie that the legendary director Teruo Ishii did. So by that I wanna take the time to salute him and pay my respect. Maby you should to?

Eko eko azaraku starts off with a woman running scared through the streets screaming for help, she ends up in an alley and on the walls poster everywhere of someone that scares here even more...later on she ain´t afraid no more due to a big beam in her face

An devilworship cult is after her, Eko Eko Azarak is (surprisingly not) the opening phrase from a Wiccan chant. This movie is based on the manga from Shinichi Koga, see more info below, and the first of 6 movies (inclueding 1 direct to Video full length movie) and a 26 episode Tv drama (made in 1997-98).

Misa Kurri (Kimika Yoshino who was a former teen model and this is her debute) has just been transfered to a new school, a school where one of the teachers are greeting some student girls by feeling their breasts and touching them under their skirts.

Another female teacher is having a sexual relationship with one of the female students.

Some of the students wanna retaliate on Mr Numata (the pervert teacher) by using black magic and voodoism on him. Mizuki (Miho Kanno) takes Misa to where the ceremony is being held, but what no one knows is that Misa claimes to know exactly how to cast magic spells.

A student; Mizuno (Naozumi Takahashi) has been investigating some brutal murders that has struck the town. He sees a connection and points out on a map and sees that each and every single event has been close to the school, what is more terryfying though is that when he draws the lines between the deaths it makes a pentagram…

Eko eko azaraku mixes horror elements (satanic) and sex/nudity with a lot of blood. Some people die in rather bizzare ”accidents” - which results in blood splatter.

As stated before this is the first movie in a series of movies based on a manga. I haven´t read the manga nor seen any other of the movies, but this one got me really interrested to get the manga - for starters atleast - It is the mix of classical horror elements and a little glimpse of perverted teachers that got me hooked. Not only does a male teacher touching/foundle breasts, the female teacher also sticks her hand inside a girls underwear. Those scenes are however short so don´t expect any softporno here.

It also uses CGI effects and they are rather impressive for it´s time, the movie is from 1995, but mostly it is practical effects and the strange/creepy atmosphere that are the strenght of Eko eko azaraku.

The manga was originally serialized in Weekly Shonen Champion from 1974 to 1979 and for it´s time it must have been shocking and I can understand the fame it got - allthough I should say/write again that I haven´t read the manga.
Shimako Sato (director) and Shinichi Koga (story) Junki Takegami (writer) has made a interresting little horror flick that, understandably, have had several sequals.

So what are you waiting for? If you don´t watch this movie, this red caped person may swing the ax at you...

Summer's blood

On the apartment floor there are clothes, broken bottles of beer, a wallet and
the camera moves slowly across the floor. The sheets on the bed are bloody, on
the bed a naked woman, she has been tortured with a tool, a knife and a man
calmly speaks about holding the family together.
This is the start of Summer´s blood, in the plot keywords on the imdb link it
says "off screen rape", I couldn´t find that anywhere in the movie. However the
version I saw is in 87 minutes and the uncut is in 91 minutes.

On the countryside a young woman, Summer Matthews (Ashley Greene) hitchhikes her
way to a small town. She meats a young charming looking man, Tom, and his not so
charming mother. Well, Tom ain´t exactly charming in the first place since he
keeps young women in his cellar.

20 minutes into the movie I see resemblence to movies such as Babysitter wanted,
Dungeon girl (they both play a lot on the stockholm syndrome case), Captivity,
Martyrs (the forced feeding part), Psycho (Hitchcooks classic you know) - where
a young mentally unstable man has somewhat to close relations to his mom.

The movie is a mix of a psychopathic man who wants to keep his garden grow, an
inwire revolutionist in a sick way. It becomes more clear when the mothers name
is infact Gaia. Gaia is a fun(?) hint on the Japanese/Shintoist way of thinking
that the power/energy of the earth is called Gaia*. So in some way this might be
the first (?) horror movie based on "inwire revolutionist/ save the planet" way
of thinking.
It also involves the Oedipus Complex**.

On the other hand Tom and Gaia has the surename Hoxey (hoax?) so it might be
more interresting movie to disguss that it was ment to be, or was it all planed?
Also one of the proantagonists to the Hoxey family is called (what if, not)
Darwin (Darwins evolutions theory perhaps?) Or what about this conversation;
Gaia - He probably has some halfcacked(?) theory, huh?
Sheriff - No, you know you can´t believe anything that drunk says.

So beside that, what has this movie to offer?
Beside from the obvious facts that Summer being chained in the cellar and kept
there, there is also an "off screen" rape.

It starts rather slow but increases in the tense, allthough it doesn´t get nasty
or brutal, it is however some scene with blood and violence but it doesn´t rely
on blood and gore.

Summer´s blood is an impressive peace of work regarding the fact it was only
shot in 15 days. It may not be a must buy, but definitely a great watch.
In some scenes there is a fly all over the screen, wich actually makes it more
realistic and in some way intense - since it shows that the scenes was shot in a
close timeframe.

Tom might be insane, but he takes cares of Summer and gives her a bath

The director/screenwriter Hideshi Hino has, according to the legend, recieved this videotape from Tsutomu Miyazaki about his crimes as a tribute to the first Ginî piggu.
For a few years the rumours was that all this was true, that this was (some people actually still claim it to be the real and The only existing) Snuff movie.

Following up the first masterpiece(?) there had to come a sequal in some way. So it did and is this a bloody and disturbing sequal or what.
Some find it to much over the top (as you know japanese gore movies can be in some point) and a bit funny.
Sure the infamous Ginî piggu series/movies became more and more about humor and outrageus gore/splatter scenes.

The movie starts, as much as the legend itself, that a copy of a snuff movie, pictures and a letter has been sent to the police in Tokyo - Japan - about an unspeakable crime so horrific that it had to be…real?

Sneaking on a soon to become victim

An woman, who ain´t given any name, is being kidnapped and drugged late one night. She wakes up, tied and gagged in a bed, the walls are covered in blood and a madman stands on the foot of the bed - sharpening his tools..

If you by some strange reason can´t tell what this movie is about after watching the cover, you may ask yourself if you are blind.
Ginî piggu 2 is a bloody violent and in some way a poethic little flick. The madman, dressed as a butcher, with a samurai helmet on his head speaks calmly and lustfully about what he is about to do and I can tell you that he´s gonna use every tool he has.
There will not be that much left of this poor young woman.

What separate this from the original is not only the gore and blood, it is also that they added some short music/noice score in some scenes. An that takes away, in my opinion, some of the horrific things that are about to be displayd on screen.

I don´t know if this is a movie worth watching, but if you have or want to get the first Ginî piggu then by all means get this one also. After all it is a landmark in the wicked gore and horror genre. A genre wich may not have been matched ever since this movie.

Various sorches say that all the Guinea pigs have been banned/confiscated in Japan and others say that the movies can be found next to disney and random family movies at the local rental stores.

Do mad men need any reason?

Somewhere in Japan, a young woman is being tied up to a chair, 3 men comes in and one of them starts to slap her face. Then the second man comes and slaps her face.

So if this sounds like a movie for you to watch, take note to these 2 things; the movie is only in 43 minutes and the torture has just started and it gets worse.

They tie her to a chair, spin her around 100 times, force her to drink a bottle of alcohol and then spin her 100 times again.

It´s also a scene where they put on a soundtrack of disturbing noice and puts headphones on her and leaves her sitting for 24hours.. in hope she will get insane.

I have questioned myself (for watching this) and others why we watch this. I still haven´t got any answer that seems satisfying enough, or moraly right.
It may not be the most brutal movie out there, but since no real explenation is giving and hardly any dialogue at all; Mostly grunts from the sick guys when they slap her, kick her.
Maby that is the strenght of Ginî piggu: Akuma no jikken? That we as viewers have to think and hopefully questioning why this is happening. Is it a revenge from the yakuza?
Is it just some silly little game or are these men just plain stupid and wicked?

However, in my opinion Ginî piggu: Akuma no jikken is one of the top 15 movies of all time (not sure if you even can call this a movie to begin with). Mostly due to the facts that we do not know why and maby we should be glad that we don´t know why this is happening.
It is still chocking, brutal and in some way it reminds me, or better yet, I think Martyrs copied some of the faceslapping scenes from this one.

It is hard to review something like this, becouse you allready from the start kind of understand the point or outcome of the movie. So I won´t go any further down the spiral so to speak. I highly recomend this, aswell as I warn you, becouse once you have seen it, you might loose some of your sanity alonge the way.

It is only 43 minutes but it feels much longer, due to the lack of dialouge and that a timer once in a while is put into the screen.
You have been warned.

Casey Boldon (Odette Yustman) is a normal hot looking student whom every morning goes out for a run in her tight tight pants.. And, she starts to see things as ghosts, big ants in the eggs and a knit glove from a child.
All these events gets in her head, so, she needs to take a shower…. Ok..?

Anyway, Odette may be stunning (a look a like to Megan Fox in all honesty) but her acting is at the same caliber as a young Jessica Alba - that is she only can make a troubled face that says “ouw.. Why is this happening to me?” ß Yes i´m being way to mean now.

Casey lives with her father, who nearly are in the movie at all. He however tells Casey abort her past that shakes poor Casey up even more then the visions she starting to have.
The visions gets more and more intense.; She hears voices inside her head, unknown peoples faces seems to morph while she´s with her boyfriend at a club,

“tentacles” coming out from the walls (YES).

It is however a normal PG13 horror and it uses the same elements from movies such as the long overlooked Spellbinder http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0096152/ and the more famous Rosemary´s baby http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0063522/
It also copycat the spiderwalk sequence from the exorcist..
However, it´s kind of a refreshing movie since this time the mysticism and the ocult possessions are not from gypsys (wich are more or less a standard in movies such as Thinner, Drag me to hell, The wolf man and the remake that came earliler this year, My Demon Lover and Don´t look up to name a few). The unborn actually dares to mix in kaballah.

Casey seeks help from an rabbi (Gary Oldman)whom reluctantly to do something about all this and to help her at first. . She is more or less certain she will die, he doubts, but oboy soon he will believe..sort of. We follow Casey as she uncovers the truth about what is happening to her and why her mother ended up in an asylum. Has it something to do with evil dark spiritual forces? Or are someone just wanting her tied up on a stretcher? Oh well, she actually gets strapped up really good anyway.

Casey all strapped up for the....ermh..exorcism..

Beside all the above, it is somehow (or maby even becous) a rather good/enjoyable little horrorflick, ok it does mostly rely on “jump and scare” scenes and loud sound effects but they are somehow effective. Without giving to much away, there is a scene where someone is having a “spasm attack” on the floor, wich in some way turned me on ^_^ . Oh and yes, this might have the hottest exorcism scene ever.

Shannon Elizabeth, four years after being raped to death by a mutant snowman - see (upcoming) review of Jack Frost at this blog - this time in Thir13en Ghosts another horny ghost/demon is after her.
My question is; who can blame him/them?

I´ve been violated (on movie) by demons and shit before hihi

First I wanna make sure that everyone gets this, Thir13en Ghosts is a PG13 horror movie, made for the ”MTV generation ”, it isn´t scary at all, nor is it a good movie. But still I love to watch it.

The Kriticos family have inherit a house made of glass from their super wealthy anchestor Curys ( F. Murray Abraham ). What they do not know - and this ain´t no spoiler becouse the movie starts with it - is that their uncle have collected 12 ghosts in different rooms. Soon they will all be free and poor (?) Kathy Kriticos (Shannon Elizabeth) is being attacked by The Jackal.

Matthew Lillard from Scream and Embeth Davidtz from Evil dead 3 has some important roles and by putting them both into this movie, we are made sure that this is indeed a fun ” scary ” ghost movie..beside that Shannon Elizabeth is in it then (Shannon is also in the remake of Night of the demons).

So the Kriticos moves in to the house made out of glass after Curys lawyer have given them the key. The house is built, beside out of glass, like a maze a gigantic puzzlebox. It takes no genius to understand that in the box or the house, the 12 ghosts are hidden. Wait a minute, the title is 13 ghosts and there are 12 ghost captured in the house. So where and who is the 13th?

The ghosts can only be seen via specialglasses, a nice idea wich makes it more ”scary”. It also is some kind of tribute to the original movie who was made in 3D - so the audience had to wear glasses.

However, the most "scary" thing is the totaly annoying kid Bobby. It takes only 5 seconds of your time to get really upset by him. So keep that in mind if you wanna watch this movie, if you allready haven´t, wich I´m quite sure the most of you allready have.

The entire movie tries to rely on fast flashing images and monstrous (loud) sound effects.
It also pay a tribute to Stanley Kubrick´s The shining; Bobby on his kickbike going across the halls in the house - as Danny did with his tricycle in the shining.

Most people who have seen this though did it becouse Shannon stars in it and that is basicly the (only) reason to see this. As mentioned above, she gets attacked by The Jackal. We can disguss/argue for what reason, and how she is attacked by the Jackal, but let´s face it Thir13en Ghosts is a movie that doesn´t take itself to serious. So all we can do is to sit back and enjoy the frenzy of the Jackal being displayd on sexy young Kathy.

Maggie (Rah Digga) is the typical comic relief character with a bunch of oneliners such as ” Did the lawyer split? ”
Thir13en Ghosts is made in the same style as the remake of House of wax, they both has Joel Silver as a producer as well did Swordfish him as a producer. So if you are into loud PG13 horror movies or simply enjoy to see Shannon Elizabeth getting her clothes ripped apart, this movie is a good solid watch.
Did I mention Shannoon getting attacked by The Jackal? I think I did….

In nazi occupied Paris, early 1940s, a young french/jewish boy named Lucien Ginsburg grows up. In his mind, wich later into the movie is told in a specific way, he thinks it is a tragic that he ain´t mentioned in the newspaper. In time he would become a legend, a real rock´n roll personality. His music was Jazz, pop, rock, reggae, electro, yé-yé and his name became Serge Gainsbourg.

Eric Elmosnino is Serge Gainsbourg, a man driven with a great passion, but what was his greatest passion in life; his music, his women, the alcohol or cigarettes?
Now this ain´t a thriller, so that question is somehow missplaced. I´m not a monumental Gainsbourg fan or know how he lived, but everyone has certainly heard Je t'aime... moi non plus (a link will be posted below to the original music video) and either we love that kind of music or understand french, there is no denying that it is one of the most provocing songs ever recorded. And that is what makes it such a erotic and sensual and beautiful song.

Now the movie is not only about this song, we follows Serge from his early life where he starts to fantasize about women and somehow creates an alter ego.
He meets a lot of women - we got to see a lot of female and male nudity during his life.
Gainsbourg was not only a brilliant musician and a legend in his time, the movie should be mentioned in the same caliber as Sid & Nancy, Backbeat and Imagine - wich are in my opinion the best movies about music and/or musicians. This is a loving and comicbook kind of tribute to the legend of Gainsbourg.

And speaking of legends, Brigitte Bardot (Laetitia Casta) has a short romance with Serge. They actually recorded the songs Harley Davidson, Bonnie and Clyde, Initials BB and Comic Strip. During a recording session Brigette wakes up and asks; Is there any croissants? Serge answers back; No, but I got 3 songs.

In the early life Serge (or to be honest, Eric Elmosninos charisma) reminds me more of a shy and clumpsy Mr Bean and I thought to myself, ok this might be a boring french comedy/drama/biography. In all honesty I bought this becouse of Mylène Jampanoï are playing Bambou and I´m a completist so…
And as further into the movie we get I totally forgot why I bought the dvd in the first place. I checked the time and there was only 40 minutes left and no sign of Mylène..
But Serge, he transformes into a hybrid of Noel Gallagher* from oasis (check the police scene on his way to an concert) and I guess Serge Gainsburg in some way - atleast how Joann Sfar sees him.

As the movie goes along we follow Serge down to his final performance more or less. A quote from the movie is also a quote in some way of his life
- This was exspensive
- I was ready to ruin myself.

Joann Sfar has not only written and directed the movie, he has also made a comic novel (wich the movie is based on) on Gainsbourgs life. Or, to quote Joann; ” J´aime trop Gainsbourg pour le ramener au reél. Ce ne sont pas les vérités de Gainsbourg qui m´intéressent ce sont ses mensonges.”
Translated - ”I´m not interested in the truth about Gainsbourg, but in the lies.”

Oh, almoust forgot, when Mylène Jampanoï do makes her appearance, she does it with passion and a light that glows over her just like a real star, or better yet, that Only stars can.

Either you´re not into french (or none speaking english movies) Gainsbourg (Vie héroïque) is a movie to watch and to enjoy to the fullest. Not only for the cinematic experience but becouse Serge Gainsbourg enjoyd life to his fullest and last breath.

What do you think would happen if some small police force would go after some big bad nigerians and their gangster gang?
What would happen if you add some french running zombies(?)/infected people that can take as much beating as possible?
Add some claustrofobic tense to all of it and you got La horde.

Ouessem ( Jean-Pierre Martins ), Aurore (Claude Perron) are out on revenge for their dead partner, they storm a building out in the suburb, ofcourse everything goes wrong.
The though police team meets the even thougher gangsters and they all got to meet a lot of people who just wont die.

Arnaud Bordas, Yannick Dahan (he also co directed) and Stéphane Moïssakis (screenplay) and the director Benjamin Rocher has made a funny actionpacked horror without any realism at all. And why would anyone want to see anything else?
The kills are verry creative, you got guns, shutguns with shitloads of ammo. Machete kills - heads arms and legs fly all over the place.
Hand to hand combat scenes and aparently you can headbut zombies aswell.

The abondoned building (beside that an old fat man is living there) are the place for this apocalyptic horror, or atleast it is the place where all the infected people are going to. Why we do not know and that isn´t necessarly for the story at all. In a time when the more famous Resident evil franchise didn´t become the actionpacked and thrilling series as most of us had wanted, La horde shows us that there still is hope for the genre.

Ouessem; Eat me you basterds!

La horde mixes the best from 28 days later, the best parts from the Resident evil games, the new version of Dawn of the dead and add the brutality from the new wave of french horror. What we get is maby not a classic, but a fun actionpacked and bloody/violent horror movie that surely and hopefully will have many new fans and followers.

It also ends as a ”thypical” zombie movie and that is also a big plus. Now I need to get the uncut version wich is 10 minutes longer ^_^

”Rape is Something That Happens to Someone Else” as the tagling says.
In this ”back to the nature” and pre darker time drama movie we follow Jenny (Kathrine Baumann) and her friend Robert. They are leaving school to
visit Jennys friend Michael Sutherland (a young Robert "Freddy
Kreuger" Englund) who have dropped out of school and lives in a small cabin in the woods somewhere.

Jenny

has just left her abusive and a bit violent boyfriend (as violent in that sense that he shouts and wanna start trouble) and feels that there are something more to life then just the ordinary; school, education, work and normal life.
It may also have something to do with her professor that teaches about being positive and ”aquerian age” - a new way of thinking.

Jenny finds Michaels home

When Jenny and Robert are heading to his cabin, they find it rather quickly, Michael is no where to be found. So, ofcourse they goes to the nearest lake and goes skinnydipping.

As much as in real life, when a young woman baths nude, there is always someone sneaking around in the bushes nearby. At first neither Jenny or Robert gets afraid by their presence allthough the two sneaking men are acting a bit strange. Later on the night the two men comes back to the cabin and rape Jenny.

If you get turned off knowing it is a rape in it, you might think again. Sunburst isn´t exactly a rape revenge movie, atleast not in those terms as you might think.
The rape scene itself is more that Levon and Danker hitting her.
This isn´t a horror, not even a thriller, it´s an drama about innocence
(remember this was made in 1975, with all the flower power attitude) and the
change of the world/our time getting more nastier and violent. It´s more
interresting then scary (it´s not even good acting to be honest). To watch this
and compare it with other movies about rape that have been made the last 10-20
years, Sunburst seems a bit experimental in going into a darker period of time
in the exploitation movie era.

Levon and Danker

There isn´t either any dancing ”hippies” that speak about love and freedom, no one is even smoking weed in it. Even though Jenny, Michael and Robert are indeed none violent, wich is clearly shown in both the rapescene and the revenge that happens later on.
As for a ”normal” rape/revenge flick the payback so to speak would have been violent and pretty much nasty. You know, in some way coreographed brutality. In sunburst it actually feels, as much as the entire movie, as this is real people and this might have happened (or if you wanna be a bit mean, it is acted and performed as a theatre act).

Somehow Sunburst is a nice film, a bit innocent and a interresting time (at
least for us that have lived in the 70´s) that may never come back, wether we
want or not. Levon and Danker (the two rapist) can be seen as a metaphore for
the troubleling times that was about to come out of the Vietnam war, Watergate
and the all things that changed the world - into a more darker and insecure
place.

A standard phrase from various movies when things are getting out of hand. I can name a few movies, such a Deep impact. A homeless man (atleast we´re made to believe he´s homeless) shouts it "Someone call 911" when meteors slamming into the street. The big apocalyps is about to happen...on the big screen that is.

Now, history has a way of repeating itself. Sure, both in real life as in the cinematich world. So in the world of cinema, there was another movie about big badass meteors with a collision course set upon earth; Armageddon. (Wich must of us allready know is by biblical terms the place in Israel where the evil army will fight against the good army).. but in the movie, Bruce Willis saves the earth.

As for history repeating itself in real life.

In Germany 27'th of February 1933... some building was set on fire. The blame was upon Marinus van der Lubbe. An "invalid person" (he had suffered an eye injury) so ofcourse all the people who has a handicap/mental illness was to blame back in the days.

In 1938 during the night between November 9th and 10th, the crystal night in Germany, jewish stores was damaged, jewish books was burned.

a.k.a. Premonition
Yogen is based on the manga by Jiro Tsunoda called "Kyofu Shimbun" (Newspaper of Terror).
Hideki Satomi(Hiroshi Mikami) is going home with his wife Ayaka (Noriko Sakai ) and their daughter Nana (Hana Inoue). As a professor at a university, Hideki is most of his time working, so even when they drive home in their car. In order to send his work to the university he stops at a payphone booth, he plugs in his laptop, the rest of the family are fully aware that he lives for his work, yet they want and hope that he would spend more time with them.

It starts off pretty down to earth as a drama and then it twistes into some kind off Twilight zone episode, strange strange things happens, which seems to go in some kind of loop. An never ending possibility of what might have happened or what maby should have happened. It may sounds confusing and sometimes it is. But the way Hiroshi Mikami acts and the way director/screenwriter Norio Tsuruta tells the story as an ”education movie” it is an memorable family horror movie more then a ”all guys horror movie” so to speak. Noboru Takagi also co wrote the screenplay with Norio.

What I mean with a education movie and family horror?
Surely you can´t change the past nor the future, don´t even try to do so. Even if you may be getting clues on terrible things ahead, they happen for a reson in some strange way. As for Hideki when he first get the sign of his daughter being killed at a time, he recieves the sign 1 minute before the tragic event. An event that will haunt him and his close ones for the rest of their lifes.

As for the family horror; what is more horrifying then loosing your daughter?

Well I guess loosing her more then once, and to top that you get closer saving her everytime, but, will you learn and accept your loss?
Yogen is somehow a thought provocing little masterpiece, wich I haven´t heard that many talking about.
If it is that it mainly lack the gore effects or if it´s an smart written story that, as stated, goes in some kind of loop. Same scenes playes over and over again, with different results. It´s like a memory puzzle both for the viewers as for Hideki.

So, what about the sign Hideki gets? It actually comes from a newspaper, namely called Fear newspaper.
He hasn´t subscribed to the paper, but still a young man comes to his home each and every morning and slide it in the letterbox at Hidekis door.
Without giving to much away, Hideki starts to investigate where this newspaper comes from and who is printing it. The clues leads him to a young 13year boy, who rapidly has aged into a old man and later on has gone insane. Is this what´s gonna happen to Hideki also?

Yogen in some way walks along the same path as Uzumaki does, not that it is as great as it, but it gives you some of the eary feelings. Yogen may not change your life, but it will make you think twice about one thing or another, or atleast it gives you an entertaining possibility of various choices. Choices that some way or another change your and other peoples life; Forever.

Another documentary, this time on, as the subtitle says; The death (or possible survival)of the independent record store.
Brendan Toller is an guerilla filmmaker, he meets Thurston Moore from Sonic youth, Noam Chomsky whom is an well known left wing activist and professor. Brendan also meets other people who have worked (some has got their stores closed down) or are still working at stores that buy and sell records. In the end of the documentary, he also meets two men who have just opened their store.

There are mostly concentrated on old memories and what local people feel about these stores and how they have met other with the same passion, or how it has helped them and others from the everyday life of boredom.
There is also, from time to time, inputs about the introduction of radio, MTV and internet sites such as MP3.com and napster and finally the Ipod player that has revolutionised the music industry.

When Brendan starts to talk about this MP3 and the fact that people now can buy 1 (one) song online and download it on their ipod, just so they don´t have to buy the whole cd, my mind starts to fly away a bit "isn´t that how the movie industry also should work?".

Well in some cases, I wont name any sourches, becouse you all can handle internet and I ain´t talking about filesharing sites or download sites. I´m talking about different videosites where you can find, maby not "whatever you want" but a lot of scenes from various movies. You know movies that you wanna see for the reason that Megan Fox is being topless in it or whatever your reason may be. So instead of watching the whole movie just becouse of seeing a short 2-3 second clip of her tits. You can wait and that verry scene will be aviable somewhere on the net.

But, back to this documentary now. Allthough I ain´t that much into music as I once was - sure I still enjoy listening to music - but for various reasons (as getting closer to being deafh) I choose my periods of listening.
But in some way I feel the same way as these people, I feel that something would be missing if there wasn´t a place to go to and have your desire, love for the music and meeting friends or just people who actually like the same thing as you do. So, the "evil protagonist" in this documentary is ofcourse the big companies as wall-mart and other big stores that more or less makes these people (recordstores owner) unemployed and the fact that over 3.000 independent record stores across US has closed down the last decade.

And the small section above I mentioned that I understand them, here where I live, there are none comicbook store. The closest is 40 swedish miles away. But on the other hand, within 3 weeks time I´ll be going on a outdoorsale and buy my self a shitloads of comicbooks and some dvds... hey, maby I even buy a cd..

I know it´s a beatles song..

Might change the title to something more fitting like; How do I duplicate myself?

First thing; as usuall I have no recolection of time, or what day it is. It´s not that bad as it sounds really. Beside the fact that I really need a duplicit of myself.
Not maby that my life is that great, but you know, like Michael Keaton in that movie who has to little time on his hands so he goes along with this experiment so he can have another him (or however you say it). He soon learns that one duplicet is not enough, sure everything goes out of hand so he creates another one, and another...finally, as I remember it, it is five of him.

The thing is, I miss the time when I had time - or took the time to watch videos on youtube, for example. i struck me actually some minutes ago. I´ve been unloyal to some of the people I´ve subscribed to. Sumimasen (or sorry in english).

Don´t know if it makes any sense whatsoever, since I put myself in this spot.
But writing on the moviescripts sure takes a lot of time.
So does the comics i draw.
Watching movies and writing reviews on them.

Actually I took a time of yesterday and watched some Gail Kim matches from TNA, RAW and Smackdown.

Some of the matches and the moves she makes are insane.. sure it´s entertainment (fake matches and so on), but oboy oboy..

Anyway, about the need of having a second pekinobo. Maby there is more to life then just writing, drawing, watching movies.. no wait I take that question back. It´s all about honesty. This is who I am and I can´t change that. But if the proposition would come; do you want a dublicate? the answer would be; yes.

The sad(?) thing though is that the other one would do the same thing as the normal me. So, why cheat? It wouldn´t be fair.

And I also think I lost/forgot my password to youtube. Wich can be restored only if I mail them and wanna have back my password, atleast I think so. But that will have to do another day or night.

On the other hand, having a second pekinobo would actually give me the time to visit Momos and Yukis graves... "HUFF"

Hoops sorry, the movie is called The crazies.

In Ogden Marsh, opening season means baseball and spring season..or how was it
now?
The local sheriff David Dutten (Timothy Olyphant) is like most of the people in
Ogden Marsh on the opening baseball game, his wife Judy (Radha Mitchell) works
as a doctor, everyone knows one another. The fat major in town is sunbathing by
his pool..no wait I´m getting sidetracked here.

A man comes walking across the field with a shotgun in his hand, sheriff Dutten
and his deputy Russel Clank is gonna have a lot of things to do this spring,
more then they can handle to be honest.

A lot of people have said that this was a good horror movie, so since I´m an
old horror fan myself I decided to watch it a few hours ago for the first time.
I do like it as a horror, but maby from different reasons then most people have
reviewed it as - and that ain´t becouse women are being tied up and gagged. See
more below in the spoiler section.

The acting is ok, we get what we want from an infection/zombie movie basicly. It
is in some scenes really well shot and the actionscenes are thrilling without
being horrific. Haven´t seen the original Romero movie (shame on me), but to my
knowledge they are in some way different and in some way the same movie.

The crazies is a solid rent, for those horror fans that haven´t seen it yet,
the bonus for us is the short scenes of Judy and Becca strapped on some beds. I
wouldn´t have mind if that scene have lasted longer though, or they could
atleast have shown when they where strapped down, we however got to see Judy
being dazed by anesthetic ^_^ <---- asian smily face

The people are getting crazy (see the title). A biological weapon has been
created, according to a man; "it was designed to destabilize the population".
Now that quote comes 2/3 into the movie, but I´ve allready guessed that so was
the case.

So what about the fema camps?
The military comes in and take people and put them in camps, just to have them
all killed. So this might not sound like anything disturbing right?
Well as the movie goes along, we kind of cheers for the normal people - who
tries to survive - little do they know that this has been engineered from
scientists. However the man who tells them about the infection/virus doesn´t
say on whom it was ment to be "destabilized on", other then he says "we didn´t
wanted it to be used on our own".

So people in the small town are send into these camps, as stated above, our
"heroes" flee. They meet infected people - who we as viewers are supposed to be
scared of/frightened by and certanly think "what kind of monsters they are, they
shouldn´t be free"...

Did I mentioned that the people in the small town, whom have the infection, has
been sent into camps? By trains? (By trains you automatichly will feel symphaty
for the infected = your unconscious mind will think; the holocaust victims in
WW2. Since they where sent to deathcamps via trains).
But as further as the story goes, the infected ones get more and more unhuman
and the logical is to think "they need to be stoped".

We who see this as a propaganda for NWO, see through this at once. But, as you
sure can imagine - the town people have been viewed via satelite and the way it
ends it makes sure that you will be left with a feeling of that resistence is
pointless.

....or, we can just enjoy it for the fact that it is another horror movie on the
"infection/zombie" theme. And as a bonus, Radha Mitchell as Judy is being
strapped up on a table (so is Danielle Panabaker as Becca) and later on Judy is
also tied to a chair.

Grégory Morin delivers yet another short film, this is only 12 minutes and someone please give him more money so he can do a full lenght movie. Everyone, atleast horrorfans, recognise the title; Night of the living dead as the Romero classic. This is as much as spoof of it as it is a homage to more funny zombie movies. And believe me, this one is funny as h*ll.
After all we got the greatest french fotball player of all time making a fun cameo as a zombie. Zombies driving motorcycles, a japanese zombie - whom ofcourse wanna take pictures, guns that has endless of ammo, guts, splatter, blood, a hot girl (Karin Testa as La jeune mariée, she was also Yasmine in Xavier Gens Frontière(s)). Bad CGI effects wich fits the story.
Apolacyptic grey colours, nitty gritty scenes and lots of fun.

Mary (Ahmo Hight) gets kidnapped by….eh…Sheats..from the bed??

The kidnapping is about to happen

Mary and her husband tend to stay the night in an mansion after their car has got some trouble. They makes love in the shower, but still, Mary is in the bed getting felt upon by an unseen force. He doesn´t know that the one he makes love to in the shower is only an entity (or something like that). In this mansion, evil spirits lurks - the most evil of them all; the devil.

Restless souls is a movie to either totally love or totally hate. It´s not a violent movie so if you looking for that, don´t bather with this one.

An former civil war general has made a pact with the devil and all the devil need is an virgin to mate with.
Beside one of the most corny kidnapping scenes ever (I think it´s fair to say that - check the link below and judge for yourself) there also is an semi rape - take note that is more like an sexscene with struggle if that make any sense.

This demon has good taste

Some "scary" images are also in restless souls. It happens when a group is sent to the mansion in hope to rescue/find Mary before it´s to late... yeah. Each and everyone of the group has a special power, one of them can see things by touching objects. So when she wanders around naked in the mansion hallway - don´t ask me why - she encounters a demon who starts to grab her "female regions"

, now when you read that, it may sound disturbing wich I can understand, but the way it is displayed it is more "erotic" in a bad b-movie way. Well the entire cast (read Ahmo Hight) is most known for their erotic B-movies and this ain´t exactly an acadamy award winning movie. It is not an awful movie either.. or is it?

This general makes sure that everything goes like plans...and he likes to watch.

Haven´t decided yet if I hate or love/like this one. Interresting to watch nevertheless. And yes, Ahmo Hight is so extremely hot!

As much as this is a unofficial sequal to Ruggero Deodato´s cannibal holocaust wich was made to believe a real event captured on film.
Schiave bianche also tries to captivate the original Cannibal holocaust movie popularity. Does it work, or does Schiave bianche makes it on it own?

The movie is ” based on real events ” and are told as a courtcase, we see and hear both the procecutors and Catherine speak as the story is told in pictures.
Catherine has been kidnapped by the headhunters and she manages to escape while the laughing headhunters are chasing her.

Franco Prosperi (script) and Mario Gariazzo (director) tries to tell the same story, no surprise here as Ruggero did; the white men causes trouble when encountering a native tribe and their lifes.
Sure their way of life and their punishment for adultery are brutal and savage, not by any means as in Cannibal holocaust though.
But the ” civilised men ” are infact more brutal; as for example, throwing bombs at the locals, blasting a kids head into pieces …

Unfortunatly they also has some real animal killings in this, it´s an as much standard in cannibal movies as rain and tunder is in any normal slasher movie.
However, it is unfair to call Schiave bianche a cannibal movie. It is how strange and cheesy it may sound, a movie about love and innocent.

So, is this a movie you need to have or watch? I say if you are a completist, as in you need to have all cannibal movies and the unofficial cannibal holocaust sequals, then by all means get this.
Do Not expect a brutal gutstomach horror movie though.

If you watch it as a movie, without any relation to the original cannibal genre you might be really dissapointed.
No actual rape, short scenes of Catherine being tied up and a ” penetrating scene ” where the focus is on her face.

Where will this go?

Schiave bianche is a movie that you may and maby should avoid, that is if you´re not a completist and are in strong need of having everything about native tribe movies.

To review an documentary is not an easy thing, predicting the future is even harder.
Michael Ruppert is an former L.A.P.D. officer, now he has since many years working as a freelance/independent writer/reporter.
he sits on a chair and more or less talks about the end of our civilazation...

Sounds scary?
Maby even does it sounds like a conspiracy theorist?
To quote Ruppert in the movie; " Sure I´ve been called a conspiracy theorist. But I don´t deal with conspiracy theoris, I deal with conspiracy facts."

The doomsday has nothing to do with 2012, the nibiru or anything close to that - google or do your own search on that, becouse I wont deal with that here.
According to Michael Ruppert the downfall of the civilised(?) world is an catastrophe waiting to happen, or even worse - it is allready happening.

As you can understand this is a documentary. And unlike for example Michael Moores documentarys (wich is a completely other topic wich I might go into someday), Chris Smiths Collapse is done without any humor or uplifting scenes. Atleast at first sight.
After being bombarded with a feeling that this is indeed the end of our way of life - the oil is slowly dissapearing, the echonomy is collapsing, the uprising of people (revolutions), war and other things that no one wants, Ruppert gives us some points that accordingly to him will save this planet and the human race.

There would in some way be a point in writing down right here; Quoting Ruppert that is - on how this planet can be saved. But, I really don´t see any point in that. It´s like if I would have lost faith in you all. It´s like if I would think "hey, they can´t think or act, let me do it for them." So in short terms - see the documentary for yourself - it´s only 82 minutes - and you self be the judge or jury (maby both?) on what you wanna believe or disbelieve. React, don´t react, think, or just run away from the problems. Maby Ruppert is right on one thing atleast - "If you´re in a camp and a bear attacks. You don´t have to be faster then the bear, you just have to be faster then the slowest camper."

One thing though that is completely true that Ruppert says, and no one can (well ofcourse you can) argue on this; oil will not last forever.

In some ways Collapse is in all its depressing nature an uplifting documentary.
Some might call it an paranoid mans vision.
Some might call it a true wake up call.
Myself I call it a horrormovie in dialog.

The reason why?
If we look at whole this thing that he is presenting, wich he has warned about for aproximently 20 years (according to his own words in the documentary) we should be scared. And is many things, only the future will tell.

Eva Jimenez (Maya Zapata)

is one of the young workers who has been attacked, beaten and raped. Some say that the victims are 340, Alfonso Diaz (Antonio Banderas) a newspaper editor in Juarez however say that it might be as much as 5.000 women.

Lauren Adrian (Jennifer Lopez) is an reporter from Chicago who unwillingly goes down to Juárez to write about the murders. She starts to get personally involved as she and Alfonso (Antonio Banderas) digs deeper into the case.

The great thing about this movie is to see “3 generations” of female latinas in leading roles; Sonia Braga, Jennifer Lopez and Maya Zapata. The best performance of them is by Maya Zapata, who is close to amazing in her role as the raped 16 year old girl.

The bad things in my opinion is at first that Lauren seems more interrested in writing the story and getting famous then caring for the real people and the victims. However that changes as also her life is in jeopardy…

As much as this movie tries to tell the story about these horrific cases it does it in a way that makes me feel kind a dumb.
When you have the keypersons in the story telling and yelling that this is not humanity and it is wrong, for me anyway it takes away the real atmosphere and meaning. Don´t get me wrong, it´s an important movie (it raises the awarness of this case) and a good movie aswell.
It seems more like an promotionmovie for amnesty and other civilright movements, then a movie about the true massmurdering and massrapes.
Allthough it may sound like a really brutal movie, com on 340 kills and rapes, it is a R-Rated movie or as for Germany it only became a PG12.

Bordertown focus more on the actual case and it also, as mentioned above, is to raise questions. An extra plus though for it “blames and asks” about civilrights (the workers are slaves).

Don´t expect any brutal rape, even though the additional details under the imdb link says so.
However a good solid and important movie. And yes, Maya Zapata is an actress to keep an eye on. Her future is bright. Ironicly though, Jennifer Lopez career seems to have gone downhill after this movie.

The writer/director Byeong-ki Ahn who have done the more well known horror movie (atleast in the western part of the world) Pon (Phone) - a review on that will come here on this blog soon. In Bunshinsaba a young girl; Yu Jin ( Se-eun Lee) are mobbed/bullied at school, so to stop that she and 2 other girls who are outcasts calls for demonic help.
In a dark classroom they call for a spirit; Yu Jin says to her two classmates; Are you afraid?
They both nod silently.

They have cast a spell on their tourmentors, whom basicly bursting out in flames. One by one the evil girls in school dies. Someone however is convinced that all of the killing has something to do with the past. A dark past of the small village.

Kim In Suk ( Yu-ri Lee) has been burned alive when she was young, pre to the actuall story to the movie - a new schoolteacher; Lee Eun-ju (Gyu-ri Kim) is like our ”guide” throughout the story.
I will explain what I mean by that in short terms. As for us, the wievers, we will have to be curious about what has happened and therefor a new villager is being placed in the village - uposite to for example nightmare on Elm street where allready existing neighbours try to cover up the truth about their dark past from the younger teens. In Bunshinsaba the viewers are as much as the teens in NOES, that is; unaware of the crimes in the past.
Miss Lee knows nothing, as much as the viewers, on what has happened before in the village. The people living in the village however tremble in fear of the name Kim In Suk. So when Miss Lee is starting her day and reading up the names of the girls in class, she stumble upon a name, the girls panic.

Is Kim In Suk prescent?

Ho-Kyeong (Jeong-yun Choi) is a medium who will try to find out why so many of the girls put plastic bags over their heads and let themself on fire. Kyeong casts Yu Jin under a pshyciatric spell as she tries to solve her mystery.
The truth that she and the rest of us will find may scare some, some will find this an “original rip-off” to Nightmare on Elm street.

To be perfectly fair, I love ghost movies from asia, so this one should definitelly suit me. On the minus account, it is a rip off, in some way, to Nightmare on Elm street.
However it feels original, smart and deep enough to make it on its own.
The acting is at some points solid and in some scenes above solid/average.

The thing that makes this movie enjoyable is ofcourse the solid background to the ghosts deeds and the villagers desire to cover up certain things.
It also shows that the ghost isn´t necessarily evil, it may aswell be the humans that are bad.

Come on baby light my fire

If you are into “the newer wave” of ghost movies from asia, Bunshinsaba is a movie for you.
If you by any means have some doubts about asian ghost movies being all the same; girl with long black hair etc you will not like this.
Bunshinsaba gives “away” the actuall doers of the crimes rather quickly, it focus mostly thereafter on developing the caracthers as somehow real humans with dept.
If it works as a whole?
I would say it tries and succeed in some points; the ghost/demon and its desire for revenge becomes more human then scary (allthough humans are basicly more scary then ghosts are, my own reflections).
Bunshinsaba reminds me, not only on Nightmare on Elm street - for some various reasons wich I wont give away - but also reminds me about other movies in the genre.

Something that has happened during the last weeks is the following.

A man has been jailed in sweden for childporographic pictures on his computer. That´s a good thing he got jailed right.
Now, to the big controversy about the whole thing. It was manga.
Sweden is extremly hard on these things, the hardest there is in europe. However the law is, as many laws, full of controversy and double moral. We may think whatever we want about the whole "idea" of comparing manga comics to childpornography. I will give some examples of some of the mangas that are being sold in various stores here. You be the judge and jury on this.

The movie tries to be funny I understand that, the same monster slayer type as Buffy the vampire slayer. Jack Brooks however has a lot more PG13 violent and slime.
Sure it´s fun, if you are a teen and long back to the 80s horror movies with a lot of irony and "funny" sequences, but for the rest of us. Avoid.

Robert "Freddy Kreuger" Englund playes a professor, he has late nights classes where Jack and a bunch of other "teens" are going to. Jack is always getting in trouble or getting late to classes. So the professor wants him to visit him to see what´s wrong with his pipes. Jack is not only a young student (with beard), he´s also a plumber and he has a girlfriend; Eve (Rachel Skarsten).
While home at the professor - actually after Jack has left, a black heart is found in the backyard. A black heart that has belonged to a evil spirit.

Normal people are being possesed by the black heart and the one who has possesed first, uses tentacles to capture the students and with a gigantic tentacle penis he/it (it as in the monster) deeptroaths them so they turn into some mixture of Uruk Hai (from Lord of the rings) and the demons from Lamberto Bavas Dèmoni.
Now, the interresting thing here - tentacles and the deeptroathing thing, this would be a movie for me to enjoy right?
I can´t say I hated it, but close enough.

When the monster is deeptroathing and we see it perfectly and clear, it´s ofcourse on a male. But when a woman is being dragged closer to the monster by the tentacles, what do happen if not another scene. Same thing happens where a third victim is dragged to the monster, a girl this time also, cut.
New scene please.
So, when there is a female being deeptroathed in picture, she is allready transformed to a monster.
Sure, this movie isn´t trying to be sexistic or about demonrape or anything, but still it annoys me when movies do this - cuting away when a female is in deep trouble but a man, sure - show everything.
I understand that to get this movie a PG13 rating they couldn´t show a female in that pose, but still (I am annoying myself) it annoys me really bad.

The acting is bad, ok it´s a monster horror/comedy so the acters know what kind of acting it´s supposed to be. But it´s more silly and disturbingly bad. As for example; Bruce Campbell atleast has some kind of charm and he also has does his roles with "twinkle in one's eye" so to speak. That is something that Trevor lacks or if it´s the director Jon Knautz who have failed misserable with it, I don´t know.

It also hasn´t got any surprises at all, we understand at once how this movie gonna end up and how each and every scene gonna be.
Props though for not using so much bad cgi effects.

If you wanna see some nasty tentacles, I suggest you see The Tentacles Strike Back (the whole trilogy) and yes it´s live action or Injû gakuen the whole quadrilogy (live action) or the hentai series of six episodes.

Unforthunatly there´s a sequal for Jack Brooks coming, don´t ask me why.

Well atleast I have to be possitive in some way, no wait I give 3 possitive things about this.

In Mapo, a quarter of Seoul, some girls are missing.
Mi-jin Kim ( Seo Yeong-Hie ) a call girl recieves a call from her pimp Joong-ho Eom
( Yun-seok Kim ) a former taskforce police.
He wants her to meet a man, but, there is something fishy though by the telephone number from wich the man have contacted Joong-ho.

Mi-jin Kim

Mi-jin leaves her daughter and goes to meet the man, while driving away with the man she is being phoned by Joong-ho. He have recognised the phonenumber, a number that have some connection to several of his callgirls gone missing.

The director/screenwriter Hong-jin Na shows in his debut that this is a man to keep an eye on. His second movie The yellow sea is now under production and stars both of the male stars from Chugyeogja.

As much as it may sound strange, Chugyeogja reminds me quite a bit of Saw, Se7en and Martyrs.
First thing it´s a movie that are realistic and really really well acted by everyone. In some scenes and the way it ends are things that make you wonder if or maby even why movies of today has such tiny hope. It would be easy to explain what I mean, but it may also be a big spoiler if I´d tried to give a deeper review on it.
Second. It was also made in 2008, as Martyrs, they both where screened in Sitges - Catalonian International Film Festival and in Cannes.

Not only is it a brutal vision of a society - the police, the government lack as much humanity as the serialkiller does, well in some points that is. It is also a sad movie, told in an oldfashion drama the asian way (for those of you who have seen asian dramas you know what I mean).
As an example is when Joong-ho drives his car, shouting in his cellphone, the rain pooring down, violin music is played and beside him in the car Mi-jins daughter cries her heart out.

It is a beautiful shot movie and mixes it with dark scenes - dark as in the same style cinematography - as for example the first Saw movie or for that matter Martyrs. The absent of so-called “ living colours “ in the bathroom scene gives it a dirty feeling.

It is however a classic “ cat - mouse “ thriller but it is also a movie about the downfall of a society. It might not be obvious for some who see this movie, for some it´s more understandable.

So if you are into darker serial killing movies that are based on real events or just feel that you wanna see one of the last decades best thrillers this is the one to get.

It started with a knock out and it ended with a kiss.

First thing first, I didn´t chear for anyone going into the final Spain vs The Netherlands.
I thought, ok it´s the world cup so why should I not watch it. So I did and what I saw as for aproximantly 1.000.000.000 people saw the match; wich is 1/6 of the population on the planet.

What we saw was a knock out.

It continued with brutal tackles

It ended however, with a kiss

The match itself, was it as brutal as the images shows?
Was the dutch playing unfair?
Where they (the dutch) willing to do anything to win the final?

A classic Hong Kong category 3 rape revenge movie.
Ah Ling ( Ching Yee Chong ) and her older brother Ah Wa is going out to the small village Kau Wah Shan with their friends to camp.
Ling packs her pillow and her teddybear; the pink panther - a clear message that she is really young, don´t worry though, Ah Ling is older then that sounds. As you might have guessed - Ah Ling gets raped - gangraped.

At the small village some guys live, they are lowlifes more or less, stealing hens from the villagers etc and their friends Mo (alltough credited as Moe in imdb link) is a bit chubby/slow in the head and they taunt him. Mo is also, the conscience of the group - in the same way as Matthew was in I spit on your grave for example.

Ling survives the gangrape and later on ends up crazy, we see her sitting in a white padded room, her father - called Pa (as in papa) also looses his mind and sets out to Kau Wah Shan to get the beasts ….

We who have seen CAT 3 Hong Kong movies before, we know that they use sound effects in a special way. In Shan kou they increase the sound when they rip Ah Lings underwear apart so it more spounds like a whiplash.
After the rape, wich takes place by the waterfall, we see briefly the water turing red for a second.

Beside the brutality there is a really funny scene in Shan kou, where the five beasts are at a local pub on of the rapists try to pick girls up - he finds one that interrests him, so he leans down and smells her butt and she accidently farts in his face.

Finally it´s been settled; Aya Ueto, the famous singer and actress, is gonna star in the new NHK serie. It will start to air at August 31 in Japan.
Aya, to date, maby most known in the western part of the world for her performance as Azumi in the japanese action/samurai drama Azumi and Azumi 2:Death and love.

I´m really looking forward to the DVD boxset of this serie. However I have doubts on that it will not be aviable for release here, so as usual import is the way to get it.

In Junen saki mo Kimi nikoishite Aya plays Rika, a 26 year single who through time travels can see herself as she will be 10 years later.

Note.
NHK ( Nihon Hōsō Kyōkai translated to "Japans chief voice" or "Japans leading voice") is the public service chanel of Japan.

So, what have happened during the world cup - and most important on this blog; Why am I so freaking bad at predicting when it comes to fotball - and any other sport event.

The most "eyebrown raising" was that France and Italy ended last in their groups, well I said that France was gonna end last - Peiné Aurélie je raconté te donc. (Sorry Aurélie I told you so)

Only One team from Africa made it through to the knock out stage.
However, I think Ghana gonna win over Usa (usa who have surprised me with their mentality and no surrender attitude), only becouse the whole continent; Africa, gonna stand behind Ghana. Will they break or will they celebrate?

I didn´t believe in Portugal and thought Spain would go to the final. Why the change of heart all of a sudden?
Spain hasn´t played well and they only got one striker, Torres have not been able to make a good comeback since the injury.
Portugal however scored 7 in one game and they got speed, finally I might add.

South Korea, to defensive and the legendary fighting spirits seems to be gone and.. Japan has on the other hand, Finally, learned to play as a team. Sure they have Honda, Endo, Tulio Tanaka and Okazaki (who was the best striker in the world 2009 with 15 goals in the national team) as individuals, but Japan is a well funcional machine. Beside, Paraguay is also to defencive and they lack in speed.

Netherland against Slovakia, it should only end with a win for the dutch.. however, Slovakia in their best times plays as their "big brother" Czech Republic (as they did in late 90´s early 2000).

Brasil against Chile. I got nothing against Brasil, but unfortunatly they will win over Chile. Not only do I cheer for Chile because they play amazing at times, I cheer for them since they have "El loco" - Marcelo Bielsa an Argentine born genius - as a coach and the fact that the players try to make their homecountry proud after the horrific earthquake disaster that happened february 28 this year.

Germany against England... put on your extra padded gear, even if you only watch the game on tv. This is a gigantic clash...and germany gonna win it. Not that any of the teams honestly deserves to win (as in being in the quarterfinals), but England has got nothing..sorry to say - but then again -I do am awful when it comes to predict outcome in fotball matches.

Mexico against Argentina .. woow.. two teams with so short players that runs like .. ohmy.. but, I will not change my mind. Argentina wins. Pesaroso Mexico (Sorry Mexico)

I will also put up a world team, judged by after how they played in the group stage.
Some might miss some players (Landon Donovan for example), but I want the 3 Argentines up front, so the first of 3 forwards will have to take Donovans place, so far I might add - since the play between the Argentines are more valuable then you might understand.

Gaira once again writes and directs but this hasn´t so much to do with the original idea. All 3 movies are movies that should be watched seperatly.
In Gômon kifujin however the sextorture starts, it mixes some hillarious moments aswell, as for an example; Grandpa is the leader of the gang. However, there is some torture scenes that not necceserly is brutal - not in a graphic way though, but they are there.

Gômon kifujin is a mixture of pinku, comedy and BDSM. The mix of all that doesn´t really hold up to the first two in the harawata trilogy. But as stated before, these movies should be watched seperatly.

The local yakuza gang are selling and using a drug called Angel rain. Beside that, they rape and sell sexslaves to another gang in the Phillipines.

A woman has managed to escape though and after meeting Hiromi (Megumi Ozawa) who is working as a psychiatric, she comits suicide.
Hiromi now plans for a revenge, but as in Xue mei gui, a review will be posted here later on, revenge can turn against you in a nasty way.

Gaira once again writes and directs a movie with a beast/monsters and some rapes. Bijo no harawata is the second in the infamous harawata trilogy. The first 2 came out 1986, the third; Gômon kifujin a.k.a. Rusted Body: Guts of a Virgin III or Female Inquisitor as the European title was, came out 1987. They don´t have so much to do with eachother beside the same writer/director and that they have plenty of nasty sex scenes.

During the gangrape of Hiromi we hear one of the most memorable quotes in history.
- I am ashamed we belong to the same human race.
- Then you can stop being a human. I´ll personally dig your grave. You ruined our artwork. I will rip your ass to shreds.

The quote itself is fantastic and, so to speak - stands alone - but in contrast to what is happening later on, it must be considered as one of the best metaphoric quotes of all time. You will understand when you see the movie, becouse if you allready haven´t, rape or not, this is a movie that are a must have in any ones collection.

On the minus account however Bijo as much as Shojo no harawata has some strange voice dubbing to it, but that is basicly all I can ” complain ” on.
The acting is great, the rape scene is disturbing, all though it doesn´t reach the ugliness as in more well known movies such as cannibal holocaust - wich by the way are hard to top.

Bijo no harawata, as stated above came out in 1986, 1 year after that an englishman named Clive Barker made his debut with a classic called Hellraiser. What has that got to do with Bijo you might wonder. Well after seeing Bijo no harawata, I think I know where Barker got his inspiration from the attic scene - where Larry is being reborn so to speak.
The way that the drug is visualy displayed are for its time really impressive.
There are many things to say about Bijo no harawata, but I will only use 2 words; Buy it!

Ok about some groups and how I thought about their group endings;
France out allready in the group? Well they don´t have Zidane and they barely made it trough to the world cup And - The home teams Always do good.
South Korea? Well they sure can run, probably the best team there is when it comes to fighting - atleast as they did in 2002 and I can´t see the former swedish coach Lasse Lagerbäck in such short time have teached the Nigerians to run, since his latest teams never run that good in the first place. Greece, sorry but they are to defencive.
Ghana last in their group? Michael Essien, the heart and soul of the Ghaneans is not in; he´s injured, and without him the team will fall hard.
WHATTHEFREAKINGH*LL???!?!?!?!??!?! Japan third? I think the african teams will have an advantage in this world cup.
Côte d'Ivoire wins all their matches in the group and portugal has only one descent player to be honest; Christiano Ronaldo and not even him can make a change.

Knock out stage;
South Korea runs all over South Africa.... and they even run to their hotel after the match.
Serbia wins due to better defence and they counter in 2 goals, ironich since the english team has a italian coach..

South Korea never stoped running after their 1/8 final, they run in their quarterfinal also...

A group of people are out in the countryside to take photos of a model, Kei (Megumi Kawashima). After they´re done, emh, with the photoshoot that is, they try to leave. A mysterious fog force them to take shelter in a cabin in the woods over the night.
While there a funny conversation starts between the men, however, their night will not be so joyfull.

Director/screenwriter Kazuo 'Gaira' Komizu is one perverted man. A male wrestling a female and he doesn´t hold back, the woman moans and litterly wets herself - ofcourse we even see that up and close.

The men are all scumbags more or less, wich is presented in a particiluar japanese humorish way.

K has been taken and chained up in a cell, she awakes and gets to know that she is being transported from the us to Japan. By who and why?
Has that something to do with a girl being blown up in the middle of the street in Japan?

K gets the name Asamiya Saki (Matsuura Aya) and she got to find out why young people are blowing themself up.
Those behind all this will attack her with swords, machine guns, kick her and throw punches at her - even knock her out and tie her up, Saki on the other hand - as the english title say - only have a yo yo to protect herself.

The absolutely phenomenal wonderful super kawaii Matsuura Aya is really impressive in her role. After listening to her songs and watching her comercials I actually never tought she could be this cool. Am I glad I was wrong.

Just watch her video Momoiro Kataomoi and then you be surprised that Aya actually kicks such major ass as she does in Sukeban Deka: Kôdo nêmu = Asamiya Saki.

Matsuura Aya as Asamiya Saki

Sukeban deka has a lot to live up to, not that I´ve seen the series or the original movie, nor the anime or read the manga (how is that even possible?) but have heard nothing but good things about the whole “ franchise “ so to speak. It might be wrong, but if you know japanese series (series of movies that is) this is how I have understod it; Sukeban deka is the second greatest thing after Gojira (Godzilla for the western part of the world) when it comes to Japanese series of movies/television in the action genre.

So by that, the director Kenta Fukasaku (Yes the same Kenta Fukasaku Who wrote the screenplay for Batoru rowaiaru a.k.a. Battle royal), he could only have failed by doing this - if we can be mean for a moment..
I think however, for the type of movie it is, it works really good, I enjoyed it, not only becouse what is showed in the stills, or the fact that I adore Matsuura Aya - or as she is called Ayaya - this is a good entertaining fun action flick that sometimes is needed to be seen if you somehow wanna mentain sain (hench, all the violent movies I tend to watch)

The movie is actually one of my top 10 movies of the past decade - take note that list was made before I saw movies such as The girl next door, to name a few.
However, Sekuban deka is a funny action movie, sure Saki gets a lot of beating, but it´s not so violent, infact it was rated PG12 in Japan.

So, if you wondering why you should see this and why it´s even reviewed here, some spoilers here and in the stills; girls being chained up, ductaped, knocked out cold and an impressive cute cast; Matsuura Aya, Rika Ishikawa, Erika Miyoshi, Yui Okada and yes, Yuki Saitô is still beautiful.

If you like japanese action movies that are not so violent, alltough as stated above - Saki gets attacked by swords, machine guns etc, Sukeban deka is more like a chick action movie, but still so enjoyable to watch.

When Hiroyuki Nagano (Kurayami Shirei as his characters name is) says it´s been 20 years since I heard that name (Asamiya Saki), it is becouse he played in the tv show of Sukeban deka.

Yuki Saitô, who plays Sakis mother was infact the first yo yo girl. The show lasted 25 episodes 25minutes each episode. Sukeban deka or High School Superheroine as the international title was. The series became so succesfull that a full lenght movie was made in 1987.
In between (1985-86), a anime serie was made that lasted for 42 episodes - 25 minutes per episode.
