The local yakuza gang are selling and using a drug called Angel rain. Beside that, they rape and sell sexslaves to another gang in the Phillipines.













A woman has managed to escape though and after meeting Hiromi (Megumi Ozawa) who is working as a psychiatric, she comits suicide.
Hiromi now plans for a revenge, but as in Xue mei gui, a review will be posted here later on, revenge can turn against you in a nasty way.

Gaira once again writes and directs a movie with a beast/monsters and some rapes. Bijo no harawata is the second in the infamous harawata trilogy. The first 2 came out 1986, the third; Gômon kifujin a.k.a. Rusted Body: Guts of a Virgin III or Female Inquisitor as the European title was, came out 1987. They don´t have so much to do with eachother beside the same writer/director and that they have plenty of nasty sex scenes.

During the gangrape of Hiromi we hear one of the most memorable quotes in history.
- I am ashamed we belong to the same human race.
- Then you can stop being a human. I´ll personally dig your grave. You ruined our artwork. I will rip your ass to shreds.

The quote itself is fantastic and, so to speak - stands alone - but in contrast to what is happening later on, it must be considered as one of the best metaphoric quotes of all time. You will understand when you see the movie, becouse if you allready haven´t, rape or not, this is a movie that are a must have in any ones collection.



On the minus account however Bijo as much as Shojo no harawata has some strange voice dubbing to it, but that is basicly all I can ” complain ” on.
The acting is great, the rape scene is disturbing, all though it doesn´t reach the ugliness as in more well known movies such as cannibal holocaust - wich by the way are hard to top.

Bijo no harawata, as stated above came out in 1986, 1 year after that an englishman named Clive Barker made his debut with a classic called Hellraiser. What has that got to do with Bijo you might wonder. Well after seeing Bijo no harawata, I think I know where Barker got his inspiration from the attic scene - where Larry is being reborn so to speak.
The way that the drug is visualy displayed are for its time really impressive.
There are many things to say about Bijo no harawata, but I will only use 2 words; Buy it!

It is so beautiful, it is poetry. And I gotta dry my tears away, becouse I need to see this once again.

Ok about some groups and how I thought about their group endings;
France out allready in the group? Well they don´t have Zidane and they barely made it trough to the world cup And - The home teams Always do good.
South Korea? Well they sure can run, probably the best team there is when it comes to fighting - atleast as they did in 2002 and I can´t see the former swedish coach Lasse Lagerbäck in such short time have teached the Nigerians to run, since his latest teams never run that good in the first place. Greece, sorry but they are to defencive.
Ghana last in their group? Michael Essien, the heart and soul of the Ghaneans is not in; he´s injured, and without him the team will fall hard.
WHATTHEFREAKINGH*LL???!?!?!?!??!?! Japan third? I think the african teams will have an advantage in this world cup.
Côte d'Ivoire wins all their matches in the group and portugal has only one descent player to be honest; Christiano Ronaldo and not even him can make a change.

Knock out stage;
South Korea runs all over South Africa.... and they even run to their hotel after the match.
Serbia wins due to better defence and they counter in 2 goals, ironich since the english team has a italian coach..

South Korea never stoped running after their 1/8 final, they run in their quarterfinal also...
Spain outclass italy 3-0??
Côte d'Ivoire flexes their muscles and overpowers Netherlands, completely.

A group of people are out in the countryside to take photos of a model, Kei (Megumi Kawashima). After they´re done, emh, with the photoshoot that is, they try to leave. A mysterious fog force them to take shelter in a cabin in the woods over the night.
While there a funny conversation starts between the men, however, their night will not be so joyfull.

Director/screenwriter Kazuo 'Gaira' Komizu is one perverted man. A male wrestling a female and he doesn´t hold back, the woman moans and litterly wets herself - ofcourse we even see that up and close.

The men are all scumbags more or less, wich is presented in a particiluar japanese humorish way.

Sukeban Deka: Kôdo nêmu = Asamiya Saki

K has been taken and chained up in a cell, she awakes and gets to know that she is being transported from the us to Japan. By who and why?
Has that something to do with a girl being blown up in the middle of the street in Japan?














K gets the name Asamiya Saki (Matsuura Aya) and she got to find out why young people are blowing themself up.
Those behind all this will attack her with swords, machine guns, kick her and throw punches at her - even knock her out and tie her up, Saki on the other hand - as the english title say - only have a yo yo to protect herself.

The absolutely phenomenal wonderful super kawaii Matsuura Aya is really impressive in her role. After listening to her songs and watching her comercials I actually never tought she could be this cool. Am I glad I was wrong.


Just watch her video Momoiro Kataomoi and then you be surprised that Aya actually kicks such major ass as she does in Sukeban Deka: Kôdo nêmu = Asamiya Saki.

Sukeban deka has a lot to live up to, not that I´ve seen the series or the original movie, nor the anime or read the manga (how is that even possible?) but have heard nothing but good things about the whole “ franchise “ so to speak. It might be wrong, but if you know japanese series (series of movies that is) this is how I have understod it; Sukeban deka is the second greatest thing after Gojira (Godzilla for the western part of the world) when it comes to Japanese series of movies/television in the action genre.

So by that, the director Kenta Fukasaku (Yes the same Kenta Fukasaku Who wrote the screenplay for Batoru rowaiaru a.k.a. Battle royal), he could only have failed by doing this - if we can be mean for a moment..
I think however, for the type of movie it is, it works really good, I enjoyed it, not only becouse what is showed in the stills, or the fact that I adore Matsuura Aya - or as she is called Ayaya - this is a good entertaining fun action flick that sometimes is needed to be seen if you somehow wanna mentain sain (hench, all the violent movies I tend to watch)

The movie is actually one of my top 10 movies of the past decade - take note that list was made before I saw movies such as The girl next door, to name a few.
However, Sekuban deka is a funny action movie, sure Saki gets a lot of beating, but it´s not so violent, infact it was rated PG12 in Japan.

So, if you wondering why you should see this and why it´s even reviewed here, some spoilers here and in the stills; girls being chained up, ductaped, knocked out cold and an impressive cute cast; Matsuura Aya, Rika Ishikawa, Erika Miyoshi, Yui Okada and yes, Yuki Saitô is still beautiful.

If you like japanese action movies that are not so violent, alltough as stated above - Saki gets attacked by swords, machine guns etc, Sukeban deka is more like a chick action movie, but still so enjoyable to watch.

When Hiroyuki Nagano (Kurayami Shirei as his characters name is) says it´s been 20 years since I heard that name (Asamiya Saki), it is becouse he played in the tv show of Sukeban deka.

Yuki Saitô, who plays Sakis mother was infact the first yo yo girl. The show lasted 25 episodes 25minutes each episode. Sukeban deka or High School Superheroine as the international title was. The series became so succesfull that a full lenght movie was made in 1987.
In between (1985-86), a anime serie was made that lasted for 42 episodes - 25 minutes per episode.

Oh boy oh boy. Where do I even start with reviewing this?
The brutality is insane. Men are being blown to pieces by a bazooka, arms are blown of by gunshots, men pick up wodden sticks from a fireplace and fight with the sticks as they still glows, a young girl is trown trough the air like…













And let´s Not forget the chicken race between a bike and a truck.

Most western action movies (read american) has 1 Big action sequence - like a fight that are coordinated and somehow are ment to be the everlasting memory from the movie. In kerd ma lui however, the stuntscenes are so many that I seriously lost count after a while. I had to rewind soome scenes to understand if I just saw what I think I did in the first place.
This is exactly how actionmovies should be like, no logic is necessary here, don´t even think about it.
Kerd ma lui is a wet dream for everyone who loves crazy outrageous stunts, stunts that actually are Dangerous to do.

Crazy stunts



Don´t get me wrong, there are different ways of looking at action and people may argue what real action is. For some it is explosions, scene with weapons, or as in the asian way - use your body as a weapon, or better yet - your body is a weapon.
However, this has also a lot of explosions and guns, blood and emotions as you can handle.

All the top actors are actually former sport stars. Imagine an hollywood movie having real life sport stars as Michael Jordan, Kobe Bryant, Tyson Gay, Marion Jones - or whatever the more active big time sportstars are - acting like themself and doing all their stunts, and I ain´t talking about stunts as in ”jumping from a stair to the floor” - you have seen the trailer... You do understand how big these are. On the double disc dvd, they even mention and thanks the us audience for the fine reviews/ the screening of Kerd ma lui in the states. It is very sincere, but I think the rest of the world instead should send their huge gratitude for the makers of this classic.

Ok, after that, I have to talk a bit about the actual movie itself.
A new police, Daew, joins up with his sister Nui (Kessarin Ektawatkul) and other athlets in a goodwill mission. They visits an village not far from Bangkok.
Deaw (Dan Chupong) tries to cope with his loss of a partner during an awasome opening sequence to this movie.
While at the village we see how happy the villagers are by recieving gifts from these topclass athletics, soon though some terrorist start shooting and butchering everyone, and I do mean everyone. No one, at first sight, seems to be spared, children as well as elders are killed.
Deaw and his friends most find a way to strike back - and so they do.

Kerd ma lui plays a lot on nationalism/patriotism feelings, wich I personally don´t like at all - normally anyway. But in this it works.
All the sportsmen and women get a chance to shine and use their special skill while fighting back against the terrorists.
They are gymnasts, boxers, rugbyplayers, Tae kwon do, Thai box junior champs (Sasisa Jindamanee) was infact 10 years if even that ”old” when recording this movie.

And if you think that just some do the actual kick ass beating, then you are all wrong.







From the youngest to the oldest, they all fight, with a passion and a pride that I actually to be honest never seen before in a movie.

But apart from that, this is an original movie, beside the part that Kerd ma lui is actually a remake, wich I didn´t know of to be honest.

The scene where Deaw shoots a lot of badguys is shot as a first person shoter game.

The production company is Baa-Ram-Ewe, they have produced movies such as Tony Jaa´s masterpiece Ong-Bak. Also Sumtum who stares Sasisa Jindamanee and Kessarin Ektawatkul, two of the stars from Kerd ma lui.

Deaw ( Dan Chupong) has worked with Tony Jaa in Ong-Bak.

Kessarin Ektawatkul is a former Junior national Tae kwon do champion.

Sasisa Jindamanee is a national Junior Thai kick boxing champion.

Bart, Ladj and Thaï meet Yasmine and Eve while they are partying at a club in Paris the night before christmas eve, the day of the birth of.. You know who.
The guys and Yasmine follows Eve out to her house in the countryside where they meet Joseph, the housekeeper.

Sheitan is Persian word for satan. If you haven´t allready figured it out, here are some hints within the movie.
Our young group start at a club called Styxx - Styxx or Styx was/is the river that are a bourder between the living and the dead world according to the greek mythology.
Joseph has a dog is named Cerberus, the 3 headed dog that guarding the gates of Hades - wich is the kingdom of death. In the movie Sheitan however, the dog has only one head.

So with that we can understand what kind of movie this is, but, this is all Vincent Cassels film, alltough Kourtrajme is behind the idea.
Joseph (Cassel) is the housekeeper, an odd personality to say the least. The locals may be even more strange.

Kim Chapiron, the director wrote the script with his father Christian Chapiron and they take their time before it gets violent. The strenght of the movie is Cassels acting and the strange vibes that something scary is about to happen.
Sheitan is bult up by dialog and once again; Cassels acting and charisma.

If you are expecting a movie with tons of horror elements or actionfilled horror scenes, then you are looking for the wrong movie.
However there are some scenes that are grapichly brutal but once again, Cassel, the atmosphere.

I might get shit for this, so sue me then. But Sheitan might be the evil twin of The shining.

So if you like or love the shining, you know you need to see Sheitan. Hell, Cassel is so great that that alone is well worth your cash.

Trivia.
The black and white vampire movie that are shown at the gas station was made only for Sheitan, the lead actress in that are Monica Bellucci - she and Vincent are a couple. The movie was shot as an movie within the movie.

Vincent Cassel is also producer of Sheitan - his first production.

Cassel has worked with Kourtrajme before, wich he talks about in the extras on the dvd.

Kourtrajme has been a famous underground performance group in France for over 10 years, their videos (tv shows) has been banned since they have been to outrageus, in the same style or worse as Jackass and Dirty Sanchez.
